Cannabis Central: Pure-Play Pot Stock Index Went Down Marginally On Wednesday

The Pure-Play Pot Stock Index went down 1% on Wednesday with 17 of the 25 constituents declining, 6 advancing and 2 having No Change in price. In addition, 2 of the 3 index categories went down, as well.

The munKNEE Pure-Play Pot Stock Index went DOWN 0.96% on Wednesday with 17 of the 25 constituents declining, 6 advancing and 2 having No Change in price. In addition, 2 of the 3 index categories went DOWN, as well. The winners and losers are as follows:

Index Performance

The Index has companies doing business in a number of different categories and sub-categories based on their primary area of focus in the cannabis industry. These categories are identified below along with those stocks within each category that changed price by 10% or more:

  1. The Vertically Integrated (i.e. Seed-to-Sale) Category went down 0.9%. The category consists of  22 index constituents that grow, process, and sell cannabis and hemp flower and related products.
    1. The Canadian Licensed Producer (LPs) Category went down 0.9%. Only 1 of the 7 index constituents within the category changed prices by 5% or more, namely: Aurora (ACB-7.7% (-26.0% on Tuesday).
    2. The U.SMulti-State Operator (MSOs) Category went down 1.2%. 4 of the 13 index constituents changed price by 5% or more, namely: Medicine Man (SHWZ) +7.3%,  Harvest Health (HRVSF) -5.2%Acreage - Fixed (ACRDF-6.7%, and Acreage - Floating (ACRHF-8.5%.
    3. The Hemp Seed-to-Sale MSO sub-category went up 2.7% but only 1 of the 2 index constituents in the category changed price by 5% or more, namely, Charlotte's Web (CWBHF) +7.0% (-11.3% on Tuesday).
  2. The Extraction Category went up 4.3%, This category focuses on the extraction of cannabis compounds and their infusion into consumer products, and 1 of the 2 index constituents within the category changed price by 5% or more, namely, Neptune (NEPT) +6.5% (-5.6% on Tuesday).
  3. The Consumption Devices Category went down 7.1%. This category has only one index constituent (Greenlane (GNLN) focused on developing and selling personal consumption devices for cannabis consumers, such as vape pens and inhalers.
