Bitcoin has come a long way from its humble origins. In January 2011, $100 could buy 333.33 bitcoins. In April 2019, that investment would be worth, calculated for inflation, about $1.7 million. There are far more ways to make money off of the blockchain than just buying bitcoin - though it can work and has worked in the past.
Although you can’t invest directly into blockchain, you can invest in companies that you believe will materially benefit from the new blockchain technologies. Mining enablers & traders provide the ‘picks and shovels’ used for crypto mining, or trading platforms and crypto exchanges is an example of something you could invest in. 48% of executives expect blockchain to change their business in the next upcoming 3 years.
Another way to invest in blockchain is to invest in investment vehicles. Some include: Exchange-Traded Funds which are investment funds focused on blockchain tech, Exchange-Traded Notes which are linked to the market price of a cryptocurrency, and many more.
As well as coins on the blockchain, there are also tokens. Some tokens include: security tokens, which are ownership shares in real-world assets, and many more.
