If the S&P 500 closes above 7,800 today (it's at 7,830 as of 1 PM ET), the current bull market (the AI Bull) will be re-confirmed with another new all-time high.  As we approach the 4th birthday of this bull that began back on October 12, 2022, the S&P has risen 118.9% over 1,455 calendar days, making this bull the 9th longest on record in the S&P's history dating back to 1928.

And we're quickly gaining on the 8th longest bull market, which lasted 1,492 days from 4/28/1942 to 5/29/1946.  To surpass that mid-1940s bull in length, this bull will need to last another five weeks or so and get to November 13th.  If this bull slips into 8th place by extending to 11/13, it will need to go on less than a month longer to move into 7th place and surpass the 1,512-day bull from 10/22/1957-12/12/1961.  To move into 7th place, the current bull will need to make it to December 3rd.

Sixth place on the bull market list is the 1,839-day bull from 8/12/1982-8/25/1987.  To surpass that one, the current bull will need to extend another year and change out to 10/26/2027 without experiencing a 20% drop from an all-time high.  That's a much taller task!
