Brexit exit costs

There was hardly any discussion of the exit costs of leaving the European Union during the UK referendum debate.

There was hardly any discussion of the exit costs of leaving the European Union during the UK referendum debate. It is now becoming clear that apart from the huge damage to the British economy (I promise you it will be huge), there will be substantial direct financial costs associated with Brexit.

The UK might require as many as 30,000 extra civil servants to deal with Brexit (cost approx £1.5 billion) and its aftermarth. Not only that, the EU may well be demanding anything between £20 billion to £60 billion from the UK as part of obligations it has already made to the EU before any idea of proper trade talks take place. In addition some £65 billion of planned investment is on hold or cancelled before we even trigger article 50.

This divorce is going to be acrimonious and take years and to achieve what ??? Yes it is time for a second referendum based on the real evidence about the harm to the British economy through trade disruption, loss of FDI, impact on public finances and public services. The lying Brexiteers need to be held to account. We cannot destroy the British economy and our youngsters futures based on a pack of lies (£350 million for the NHS, reductions of VAT on energy, immigration pushing down wage rates, retaining access to the single market etc etc).
