Brazil’s stock market has erased most of its gains this year following the latest presidential election developments. In early October, optimism surrounding Bolsonaro’s strong polling performance during the first round fueled a sharp rally, with the market surging 12% in a single day. Following this weekend’s election of Lula, however, stocks plunged nearly 20% in one session. The dramatic reversal highlights how political developments and expectations for future economic policies can rapidly reshape investor sentiment and drive market valuations.
