Crypto Market Trends for the Week of April 20-26, 2026: Market Analysis and Performance
The cryptocurrency market has continued to grow steadily on the back of positive developments in the US-Iran conflict. In fact, the global economy has been benefiting from a potential de-escalation in international relations. Most cryptocurrencies have recorded significant gains, though they have yet to truly recover from their recent losses. Meanwhile, the overall market capitalization increased by about $240 billion.
Bitcoin started the week trading at around the $73,000 level. The king of cryptocurrencies soon established its dominance in the market, soaring to around the $79,300 mark. In its case, a growing interest in BTC ETFs brought new investors into the market. In the meantime, BTC’s value dropped by about $1,000, but its position has remained strong at around $78,000.
Ethereum increased by nearly 1% over the past seven days. The second cryptocurrency in command cemented its trading value at around $2,300 after several months of uncertainty. Its supporters believe that ETH could be preparing for an assault on the $3,000 threshold.
Altcoins & DeFi
Most altcoins have been seen trading in the green, with barely any notable exceptions. For example, XRP moved up 1%, Solana moved up 1%, Cardano moved up 2%, Avalanche moved up 3%, Sui moved down 1%, Chainlink moved up 3%, and TRON moved down 3%. Elsewhere, Zcash rose up by over 10%.
The memecoins also witnessed some interesting trajectories in recent trading. For instance, Dogecoin moved up 4%, Shiba Inu moved down 3%, and Pepecoin moved up 4%.
The Metaverse sector similarly experienced some notable movements over the past week. For instance, Axie Infinity shifted up 29%, The Sandbox shifted up 4%, and Floki shifted up 6%. Meanwhile, Decentraland moved up 3%, Render moved up 2%, and ApeCoin moved up 43%. MultiversX increased by 7% and Virtuals by 3%. Meanwhile, Stacks increased by 2%.
The DeFi sector saw total value locked in protocols (TVL) decrease by over $5.7 billion, to about $84.37 billion.
What’s in the News?
Morgan Stanley Investment Management has introduced a new fund designed to support stablecoin issuers.
Next Week’s Crypto Market Forecast
The cryptocurrency market has remained bullish, which helped many cryptocurrency assets to recover some of their recent losses. Nevertheless, the overall sentiment has been filled with skepticism and caution. Short-term revivals have been known to precede overwhelming bearish markets. Hopefully, this trend will continue within the next week and beyond.
