Nintendo shares rise 16% after Tencent approval
Nintendo shares jumped more than 15 percent on Friday after media reported earlier that Chinese technology giant Tencent Holdings Limited had received approval from the Chinese authorities to sell the Nintendo console in China.
Nintendo shares rose 15.92% at 5:20 am CET after organizers in south China's Guangdong Province gave Tencent the green light to launch a switch with the game of Super Mario Tio in China. Nintendo has no presence in the largest gaming market in the world so far as the keyboards are officially banned in China until 2014 when the government removed the ban. However, analysts cautioned that it may take some time before a switch is issued in China and that its games will be subject to separate approval processes.
Reports in February first indicated that Nintendo was preparing to issue a second version of Switch next year. However, subsequent reports in March reported that the company was preparing for two versions of Switch to be issued later in the year.
