Anatoliy Pshegornitskiy Succeeds When Markets are Chaotic

Anatoliy Pshegornitskiy is an accomplished businessman and entrepreneur, engaged in markets across Russia and throughout Europe. He has a well-established reputation for his strategic approach to industry development, his forward vision and high level of transparency. Pshegornitskiy is also dedicated to improving the lives of others and is actively engaged in a number of charitable endeavors.

From the Army to Entrepreneur

Anatoliy began to lay the foundation of his career while serving in what was then the Soviet Army. During his service years, he obtained two degrees in electrical engineering from military institutions. He also earned a degree in Economics from the University of Moscow. After ten years of military service, Pshegornitskiy left the Army at the very time that the USSR was dissolving. It was one of the most tumultuous times in Russia’s history. The situation was very difficult especially in the realms of economy, employment, and healthcare. Fortunately, Pshegornitskiy who left the Army with very little money, had a couple of advantages—tenacity and a skill much in demand.

To be Successful in Business You Need Self-Confidence

Anatoliy Pshegornitskiy was also a boxer during his army days, and the skills required to be competitive in this sport were the very ones he would rely upon to become successful in the chaotic business world of the new Russia. One of the professions in short supply in those days was engineers, particularly electrical engineers. Pshegornitskiy was able to secure employment with electricity facilities construction companies. His education and self-confidence enabled him to quickly rise to the top, developing a strong reputation for reliability, professionalism and ingenuity, all of which were the keys to success in the Russian marketplace.

In the early 2000s, Anatoliy Pshegornitskiy began his entrepreneurial career, initiating several electricity projects. He caught the attention of a large electric grid construction company, which recruited Pshegornitskiy to become CEO. RusEngineering is the parent company for 100 subsidiaries of electric grid construction affiliates located across Russia. The company, founded in 2007, set the bar for excellence in the electricity power construction industry. It provides a full range of service products to its clients, including: conducting feasibility studies and developing engineering plans; constructing infrastructure; and providing facility maintenance. Under Pshegornitskiy’s leadership, the company strengthened its reputation with stakeholders, increased its market share and significantly improved its bottom line. By the end of Pshegornitskiy’s tenure, the company had $1 billion in contracts and assets. Pshegornitskiy left RusEngineering in 2012, after bringing it to new heights relinquishing all of his shares in the company. It has since been sold to Hyundai.

Setting Industry Standards

Anatoliy Pshegornitskiy was one of the founding leaders of the Association of Power Facilities Construction Companies (APESK), an association of Russian power plant construction companies. At the time of its initiation in 2007, the power plant construction industry was unregulated and lacking in effective strategies for building relationships with key stakeholders, such as legislators, regulators and consumers.

Under Pshegornitskiy’s leadership, the Association took on a number of strategic objectives designed to strengthen the position of the industry within all spheres. APESK conducted outreach to industry members, to bring full participation within the Association. Pshegornitskiy’s experience in the electric grid industry combined with his years of military service enabled him to manage the Association’s legislative affairs programs, building relationships with key members of the Russian government, including the State Duma.

In 2009, the Association took on the task of developing a set of industry-wide regulations that would professionalize the power plant construction industry. With an eye toward the future, APESK began to initiate projects that would prepare a well-trained and educated workforce, such as establishing a Department of Energy and Electric Grid Construction at Moscow State Construction University. Pshegornitskiy also led the Association’s efforts in developing clean energy technologies.

Philanthropy

For decades Anatoliy Pshegornitskiy has invested considerable resources in charitable projects, particularly in the area of providing medical treatment to Russia’s poor children. He has initiated benefactor groups, organized fundraising events and donated countless hours of personal time to assisting those in need.
