Alcoa Starts Off Earnings Season Beating Consensus Estimates

Alcoa swung to a second-quarter profit of $138 million, or 12 cents a share, from a loss of $119 million, or 11 cents a share, a year ago. On an adjusted basis, the aluminum producer earned 18 cents a share, beating the consensus estimate of 7 cents a share.

Alcoa (AA) swung to a second-quarter profit of $138 million, or 12 cents a share, from a loss of $119 million, or 11 cents a share, a year ago. On an adjusted basis, the aluminum producer earned 18 cents a share, beating the consensus estimate of 7 cents a share. Revenue edged down to $5.84 billion from $5.85 billion.
