Stocks started the week on a high note Monday, as Anthropic's initial public offering (IPO) filing revived enthusiasm for AI and chip stocks following weeks of selling pressure. The Nasdaq jumped more than 200 points, while the S&P 500 and Dow finished comfortably higher as well.

Easing oil prices provided an additional boost to sentiment. Investors now turn their attention to Wednesday's Federal Reserve interest rate decision, with Fed funds futures indicating a 90% chance the central bank will leave rates unchanged.

Gold prices jumped higher following Friday's three-month lows. December-dated gold futures settled 0.8% higher at $4,038.40 per ounce.
