I'm the Co-Founder of AfterOffers.com, a web platform that helps companies connect with new customers and monetize their sign up and registration paths. My co-founder and brother, Emile Bourquin, built the platform from scratch. My story: I started my first business, the Online Trading Expo, while I was a full-time police officer with the LAPD. It was the first tradeshow and conference for online investing and trading. I sold the company to MoneyShow a few years ago. Prior to selling my tradeshow company, I was a full-time police officer for eight years, working everything from the Gang unit, Vice and fugitive apprehension. One Christmas Eve, while dropping off my 6-month-old daughter and wife with her family and heading to work (bad guys don't believe in Santa), I thought, "Enough" and decided to stop working for the Man, and dedicate myself to the company that I had been running on the side for several years. I was two months away from making detective rank, with a wife in graduate school and a baby. I loved being a cop, but the allure of working for myself was too strong. 6 months later I was out. Well, sort of. I am still a Reserve Police Officer with the LAPD and work at Major Crimes Division several times a month for a dollar a year. Weirdly, for me the police work is a relaxing break from running my own company. I now have the best of both worlds. And, I'm ruined to ever be an employee again.
