Date: Wednesday, October 17, 2018 5:21 AM EDT

Like an intriguing design, engaging content and attractive structure? By adding more flavor to a custom box, it adds more value to the seller. So, let’s dive into a guide of how can we design a custom box.

There Are A Few Steps That Must Be Followed While Designing A Custom Box Such As:

  • Knowing the details about the product and customer
  • Information about the brand
  • Budgeting
  • Understanding the layers of the box design
  • Choosing the right material
  • Getting the printer ready
  • Information architecture
  • Evaluation of box design
  • Feedback

Knowing The Detail About The Product And Costumer:

You must first understand that what exactly the product is? This will let you know if you have to care about the logistics while designing the custom box. Also, if you will write anything over it, it must be after getting detailed knowledge about the product.

Also, think about the people who are buying the product. Who are they? Their demographics, interest, and whatever you can collect easily. It would help a lot in selecting the design.

Next, you must how the product is being sold. Is it available in a market? Or online? You will design the package according to that.

Sometimes, a product stands alone but in some cases, it might be representing an already developed brand. If it’s like that, then you must know completely about the brand. For instance, you should gather information about color, font style and logo of the brand. The product must look related to its brand.

Before actually designing your package, understand your budget completely. Sort out the one-time cost and one item cost as well. You will have it to write it down that how much would you like to spend in the designing process. Keep in mind, that cheaper isn’t always better and costly can disturb the budget. So, go for a mediator budget.

Understanding The Layers Of The Box Design

  • Before designing, understand that there are three layers of box design: Outer packaging, inner packaging, and product packaging.
  • The outer package is the first thing a customer sees. This might be the just the box in which the product is shipped, or a shopping bag.
  • Inner packaging is what keeps the product safe. It might be a sheet or tissues or anything that are there to protect the product.
