The “Belt and Road Initiative” - China Helps Africa to Fly Its Dreams

Date: Monday, May 27, 2019 10:10 PM EDT

The “Belt and Road Initiative” is a “China Program” on how to promote the sustainable development of the world economy and maintain world peace and stability in the context of complex changes of the world structure. It can be said that the “Belt and Road Initiative” provides a new path to promote world peace and development.

As a natural and historical extension of the “Belt and Road Initiative” initiative, African countries look forward to seizing opportunities to develop together with China and the world.

At the Johannesburg Summit of the China-Africa Cooperation Forum in 2015, President Xi Jinping proposed the “five pillars” for strengthening and consolidating the new position of China-Africa relations, and the key implementation of the “Top Ten Cooperation Plans” in the next three years, focusing on solving the three major bottlenecks of infrastructure lag, capital shortage and talent shortage in Africa , accelerating the process of industrialization and agricultural modernization, and achieving independent and sustainable development.

Have enough money to build houses and transportation facilities

The backwardness of infrastructure, singular economy, and the high unemployment rate are the current situation in many African countries. In Zambia, due to the lack of the related domestic materials and technology, most of the building materials rely on imports, and the cost of materials needed to decorate a house is as much as $3,000.

The investment in China National Building Materials Zambia Industrial Park project with Sinoma Cement Co., Ltd. was officially put into production in May 2018. Building materials such as cement and masonry are of great significance to Zambia, whose infrastructure is backward. After the completion of the industrial zone, it will create 2,000 to 3,000 employment opportunities directly or indirectly, and the living conditions of local residents will be fundamentally improved.

South Africa's railway construction has a long time, facilities are backward, accidents are frequent, and upgrading is imminent. In view of the South African government, China is one of the countries with the fastest development of global railway transportation. It is the best way to learn from experienced and high-quality Chinese railway enterprises. Driven by the “Belt and Road Initiative”, the South African state-owned transportation company signed a order for about 600 locomotives with China CRRC to accelerate the upgrading of the South African railway system. The South African government has continuously discussed specific cooperation projects with Chinese companies on the railway line. This is another major opportunity to drive China's high-speed rail "going out" and China-Africa economic cooperation.

Cooperation is heating up and Development is fruitful.

Zhang Zongyan, president of China Railway Group Corporation, said that after the “Belt and Road Initiative” proposal, China Railway Group Corporation has accelerated cooperation with African countries, invested more than 20 billion US dollars, and built more than 8,000 kilometers of roads and more than 1,000 kilometers of railways, including Urban rail transit has created good social and economic benefits for African countries.

In July 2018, the Djibouti International Free Trade Zone opened, which was built by Chinese enterprises. At present, more than 20 companies have signed a letter of intent to enter the park, involving trade, logistics, and processing industries. In the future, they will also attract enterprises such as automobiles, machinery, building materials, seafood processing, and food processing to set up factories. Djibouti President Geller is full of passion: "From here on, we will establish and strengthen ties with China and the world."

Rebuilding new cities to relieve the crowds of the ancient capital.

In Cairo, the capital of Egypt, it is filthy, crowded and crippled. Since the 1960s, the population of Cairo has surged from 3.5 million to 23 million, bringing together a quarter of this country's population, 11 million of whom live in illegal buildings.

To this end, the Egyptian government plans to build a new administrative capital of 5 million people 45 kilometers east of Cairo to alleviate the high housing prices, pollution and population pressure that Cairo is now facing. Under the guidance of the “Belt and Road Initiative”, China Construction Corporation and the Egyptian government signed a business district construction plan with a budget of up to US$45 billion. Among them, Cairo's new capital CBD project is the largest single project undertaken by Chinese enterprises in the Egyptian market.

The “Belt and Road Initiative” has revitalized this ancient civilization with a history of nearly 1400 years, and has brought the Cairo people a new expectation for their future life. Amina, an Egyptian girl who studied in China, told reporters that she is very grateful to the Chinese government and enterprises for their contributions to the Egyptian people, not only because she has personally experienced the charm of "China speed" and "Made in China", but also because this can enhance the friendship and mutual understanding between the Chinese and Egyptian peoples.

Education assistance brings hope to African people.

Education is one of the biggest obstacles to the development of Africa. Due to the uneven distribution of income, some elites enjoy education, while most people do not have the opportunity to receive an education. The lack of educational resources has led to bottlenecks in talent development, and the development of industries such as industry and agriculture has stagnated.

Since the “Belt and Road Initiative” proposed, especially the China-Africa Cooperation Forum was held, education in Africa has developed by leaps and bounds with the wholehearted help and support of China. The China-Africa cooperation project not only brings employment to Africa, but also brings technology. Transfer and knowledge sharing has brought hope to the African people to change their lives. In 2012, the Chinese government and UNESCO signed a four-year, $8 million trust fund framework agreement to support Africa in developing the quality of education, training quality teachers and improving basic education.

In addition, the Chinese government and enterprises have also vigorously promoted vocational education and training. During the construction of the Inner Mongolia Railway, China Road and Bridge Company expanded the railway training school in Kenya, helped the Kenya University to open a railway engineering department, and established a training base for technicians, and trained nearly 50,000 local employees.

Regardless of the mining equipment needed to build the infrastructure, such as HXJQ or strong project investment and financial support, China is willing to contribute generously to the development of Africa.

一带一路

The “Belt and Road Initiative” has made China's passions full of every city in Africa, and left more touching to the African people. China and the African people work together to achieve win-win cooperation, and the future development is expected!
