The Fed knew about the housing bubble before it burst but lied and said they didn't: Bill HR 1424 to buy bad paper (eventually called TARP) was introduced in March 9, 2007, before there began to be bad commercial paper from private subprime RE loans, in August. Geopolitical Risk Rises In The Americas: Mexico's Nuclear Capabilities

Date: Thursday, January 26, 2017 5:37 PM EDT

Donald Trump has abused Mexico, by refusing to meet with the Mexican foreign minister if he refuses to pay for a wall to trap Mexicans in Mexico. But the East Germans did that before the ending of the Cold War. The idea of paying for a wall to trap your own people is repugnant to the concept of democracy and freedom. Donald Trump is anti Democracy, and people in the USA had better wake up. So this is my letter to POTUS:

Mr. Trump, with all due respect to your office, Mexico has the capability to produce nuclear weapons and we do not even know if Mexico actually had or has nuclear weapons. Your continued abuse of Mexico, saying to that nation that a meeting on trade should be cancelled because Mexico won't build a wall to keep its people in is over the top. Pushing Mexico closer to our adversaries, China for example, could occur if you persist in this abuse.

You do not seem to have the capacity to think two steps ahead. But you should consider this:

Mexico is one of the few countries which has technical capabilities to manufacture nuclear weapons.[1] However it has renounced them and pledged to only use its nuclear technology for peaceful purposes following the Treaty of Tlatelolco in 1968.[2] In the 1970s Mexico's national institute for nuclear research successfully achieved the creation of highly enriched uranium which is used in nuclear power plants and in the construction of nuclear weapons. However the country agreed in 2012 to downgrade the high enriched uranium used on its nuclear power plants to low enriched uranium, the process was realised with the assistance of the International Atomic Energy Agency.[3][4] It is unknown if Mexico ever created or possessed nuclear or any other kind of mass destruction weapons.

The repugnant image of Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell on stage refusing, out of fear, to even give advice to you is truly a cowardly act, as you have instilled fear into the hearts of a coequal branch of government! You have gone too far. Do you really know what you are doing? You are a threat to democracy and you should be impeached. And the sooner you are impeached the better off our nation will be.

The United States has attempted for years to stop Mexico's potential nuclear proliferation:

In April 2010, the Mexican government reportedly reached an agreement to turn over its highly enriched uranium to the United States.[3][4] The US would help convert highly enriched uranium stored at Mexican research facilities into a less enriched form unsuitable for weapons, thus eliminating all highly enriched uranium in Mexico.[9] Later in March 2012 Rachel Maddow reported that all highly enriched uranium had been removed from Mexico...[10][11]
...In 2012 Mexico was admitted into the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG) as an observer state, which the US claimed as an achievement in preventing nuclear proliferation.[13]

Give us a good reason why Mexico should not reverse this policy, POTUS. You obviously are taking away reasons why Mexico should cooperate on this issue with the United States government.

And not only could you be driving the Mexican government into the arms of China, the Chinese are developing portable nuclear power plants. They can be shipped not only to the south China Sea, but they could be shipped to Mexico, or Chile, or Argentina, or Brazil, or Venezuela, or maybe to all of the above. It isn't like those governments do not harbor animosity toward the US for the Monroe Doctrine, and would be offended at your attempts to hurt their trading partner Mexico.

You have never been fired. Would you go quietly after one term? I have my doubts. You have basically disrespected the constitution so far, so why would you not just want to be king? Everyone is afraid of you so you probably think it would be ok to be king. Nancy Pelosi is visibly shaken by your positions, and it isn't just the Democrats.

You are offending the Europeans with the specter of waterboarding. You are offending China and Mexico, and they can create a more dangerous world very easily. Is it worth it over payment for a wall?

Of course it isn't.

If you want to bring jobs to the USA, go for it. But you will likely see a backlash through reduced exports if you are too harsh on imports. So you will have to get money into the hands of Americans so they will buy. Back in the 1950s Americans had a strong dollar and had spending power. But that was then. What if current Americans can't buy enough and our businesses are put in danger financially and need to export? After you have offended the world, what will be your strategy? We are, after all, skating on economic think ice now. You may not have an economic strategy left but war. And you want to fight fire with fire you say. You have said in your campaign that you love war.

You have proven to be potentially the most dangerous man in the world. I think you wanted to be that from the very beginning. Your hate is your driver. And Americans need to wake up and stop you from possibly destroying not only our nation, but the world. You don't want mutual respect, you want to win. And that sort of sovereignty is the wrong kind of sovereignty, POTUS. There is a good kind of mutual sovereign respect among nations, but you you don't want that. It isn't good enough for you.

You didn't read Hitler's works carefully for pleasure. You appear have the intention to apply at least some of the tools developed by Hitler to America and to Mexico and to world relationships. Your fondness for autocrats should unsettle every American citizen. Is Mexico the new Poland, POTUS? You may not want to invade Mexico, but you seem to want to destroy the economy of Mexico.

You must realize that Mexico decided to stop enrichment to nuclear quality after NAFTA. NAFTA was, politically, in the national interest of the United States. You are basically saying, Mexico, if you don't pay for the wall, don't come to talk and pull out of NAFTA.

You are, sir, a potential danger even to yourself and to your family. At this point, we can only hope they realize this and seek to modify your actions, because, with Mexico, you have already gone way too far. We can only hope that the canceled meeting will not mean the end of NAFTA.

Walling off the world by making enemies of nations is not a sound way to do business. To say to foreigners that they are somehow less than we are will not generate a desire for them to buy American or come to America. And yet you clearly want most foreign nations to be considered less than we are. This is an unhealthy economic nationalism. The world economy is weak to be sure, but the world is stronger than in the 1950's. It can move ahead without us.

Sincerely,

Gary Anderson
