Don't know how to pick shares? Do this before you do...

A member asked an important question... 'I have $2,000 to 3,000 saved that I want to invest, but how do I pick stocks? Because I don't want to miss out.' The general advice I'd give to you is the same advice I'd give to my sisters or brother, which is... Firstly, don't rush to buy shares. If you're not sure how to pick stocks, it would be better first to purchase an ETF and learn how to pick stocks. By buying an ETF, you are still becoming a business owner, and you'll learn the process of purchasing a share, as buying an ETF is the same process. And, I would suggest the Vanguard Australian Shares Index ETF (VAS.ASX) -- --- OR the iShares S&P 500 ETF. As you learn how to pick stocks, your money will still be earning a satisfactory return. But, an ETF is still affected by share price volatility, that is the ETFs market price will move up and down with the tides of the share market. This experience will help you later.
