Updated Coronavirus Charts (Sweden is interesting)

Date: Thursday, July 30, 2020 9:52 AM EDT

Latest charts. I added a zoomed in chart (last 30 days) to give better recent context.

Some notes:

  • The drop-off in US/Israel cases velocity may well be due to the methodology/volume of testing. I know testing dropped off here in Israel.
  • The US is picking up in deaths, but still far slower and with less magnitude than last time. Things certainly seem better. We'll see if the speed of the rise accelerates.
  • Israel's rise seems to be leveling off.
  • Europe is seeing a moderate rise in cases, but no rise in death rates at this point. At the least, it seems more delayed following the pattern of Israel and the US.
  • Sweden - the marathoner instead of the sprinter - is continuing to improve despite not following the social distance/shutdown process. Their whole story is very poor - they had a very bad death rate in nursing homes and they apparently weren't treating the old - but their death rate is still falling despite not shutting down. This is the best evidence of the possibility of some sort of community immunity.
