Biden Was Right--It Was Time

Date: Tuesday, August 31, 2021 7:09 AM EDT

Let me be straight--i was a late bloomer.  When Biden first said he was going to pull the troops from Afghanistan, i thought he was wrong to do so.

I was wrong instead.  The present is proving Biden right and history will prove Biden right, too.

Our withdrawal, managed by our military, was nothing more than magnificent.  Even though the lives of thirteen precious soldiers were lost during our exit, the last few weeks showed our military at its finest.  How we escaped Afghanistan without one of our planes getting shot down from a missile is noteworthy.  Just think what something like that would have meant to the evacuation process.

Yes, Afghanistan will stay in the news for awhile, but now we can move on and focus on more important issues (e.g., covid, global warming and the seemingly daily damage our world is experiencing, infrastructure, voting rights, and yes of course, globanomics).

Every U.S. President has many problems to solve, but few President's have had to face the magnitude of problems Biden has had to address in his first year.  Trump left Biden with a horrific mess.  Don't believe me then consider these issues:

(1) Trump fanned the flames of an already divided country, making our fissures deeper and more deadly than they have been since the Civil War.  In today's world, even after January 6, 2021, passing nonpartisan legislation requires extraordinary resolve.  Think on this a moment.  There are people in Congress that still believe that January 6th was a normal day at the office and the visitors to Congress that day were no different than any other day.

(2) It was Trump's and Pompeo's deal with the Taliban that set the plate for Biden in Afghanistan, leaving him a position to either "send in more troops" or "get out".  Although i think Biden would have gotten us out of Afghanistan regardless, he could have done so even better than he did if the Trump/Pompeo deal was not as constricting.

(3) Trump's year dealing with covid was horrific and everyone knows it.  Because Trump's followers say they believe more in freedom than they do vaccinations, covid is still with us.  And now it has even spread to our children.

(4) The effects of global warming, which Trump saw as a scientific hoax, can be seen every day, every where around the world.  If the Trump supporters don't want to open their ears to hear the scientists speak, then they should open their eyes to see what is actually happening.  It does not take a "rocket scientist" to experience global warming.  We all can see and feel it happening every day of our lives.

(5) Trump snubbed our Allies throughout his term in office, snuggling up to Putin every chance he could instead.  What a mistake that was from an international perspective.

The list could go on and on, but why bother.  Just the above is enough to put Trump behind us and to get behind the democrats and our current President.  On every one of the above issues the democrats and Biden are on the right side of history.  Trump and his republicans are not.

If you want infrastructure and voters' rights bills then you should vote democratic.  If you want to support our military in a more strategic manner than we have used them in the past then you should vote democratic.  If you think we should get real about the pandemic and such things as global warming then you should vote democratic.  If you want the United States to lead, to be friends with out allies, and to support the theory of globanomics then you should vote democratic.  If you don't want any or all of the above, just stay ignorant and vote republican.  As long as the republicans continue to follow Trump and his every word, they are doomed to be viewed as "sheep moving forward to their slaughter".

The republicans feel they can regain power through gerrymandering and restricting voters' rights, but that is a short term solution to a bigger problem they have--credibility on all the major issues of the day.  The democrats are on the right side of history and the republicans are not.  And in the long term, history will win out.

ps.  My article on the Difference Between Globanomics, Finance, and Economics continues to get at least some attention (50 new views in the past week).  Maybe not large by most standards, but from my standards that is a landslide.  Globanomics is coming to the world one step at a time.
