Market Rates - Tuesday, June 6
The short-term trend is up, and the trend is at the top of the range. This means the best short-term opportunity to buy stocks has passed. You only get about nine of these short-term opportunities to buy per year.
Sector Strength - Monday, June, 5
Today's number of new lows was a bit elevated, but nothing to get too concerned about.
The Longer-Term Trend - Saturday, June 3
The market really turned around this week. It felt significant because a number of important indicators were pointing to trouble in the market.
The Short-Term Trend - Thursday, June 1
The market was looking very weak yesterday, but bounced back today with strength.
The Medium-Term Trend - Wednesday, May 31
The caution flag is waving for the general market, but it is still just a caution. The number of new 52-week lows is elevated.
The Short-Term Trend - Tuesday, May 30
The market rallies to new highs, but the number of participating stocks declines. It usually ends with a pullback in the indexes, but not always.
Sector Strength - Monday, May 29
The major indexes show the large caps as the leaders, while the small and mid caps are starting to lag. This is generally a sign of some market weakness.
The Longer-Term Trend - Saturday, May 27
Q1 GDP was weak, but has Q2 started to pick up? If so, we could start to see the broader stock market participate which would push the indexes even higher. Otherwise, we get the market correction we all have been waiting for.
The Medium-Term Trend - Wednesday, May 24
My indicators are generally positive towards the market, but I am feeling increasingly cautious. At the moment, I am much more inclined to take profits rather than buy as the major indexes hit new highs.
The Leader List - Tuesday, May 23
The market is rewarding the bulls and punishing the bears.
The Longer-Term Trend - Saturday, May 20
This is a very basic look at the current market. The S&P1500 is rising nicely although it looks overdue for a test of the 200-day average. We usually get a couple market sell offs that test the 200-day each year.
Market Overview - Thursday, May 18
The SPX broke down yesterday and closed the gap created by the French elections. Now what happens?
The Medium-Term Trend - Wednesday, May 17
A short-term downtrend began today, and the PMO index is already in the oversold range. We've had elevated levels of new lows for a while indicating that the market was getting a bit weaker behind the scenes.
Market Rates - Tuesday, May 16
The market broke higher after the French election. But since then, the SPX equal weight has traded within this box.
The Leader List
There was nice follow through today for the foreign ETFs such as India, Latin America, Brazil, South Korea. The Gold Miners look interesting coming off their lows.
The Medium-Term Trend
The market is grinding higher. Most of my medium-term indicators are now confirming to the upside. That doesn't rule out a whipsaw, but with the market pushing towards a new high it is better to admit that I missed this turn in the market.
