What's New For You On TalkMarkets

I wanted to share with you some new features and site developments. We believe these new features will make your experience on the site more enjoyable and rewarding.

Increased Exposure

  • Our headlines now appear on many additional sites including Zacks, Yahoo Finance, Investing.com, Benzinga, Seeking Alpha, Huffington Post and many others as part of a free headline exchange.
  • Exclusive articles (those not available on any other free site for 48 hours) are promoted on numerous 3rd party sites such sites Bloomberg, Reuters, Yahoo Finance, CNBC, CNN and others for a total reach of over 400 million monthly readers.
  • Every headline now automatically goes out to Twitter and StockTwits along with related keywords (hashtags) and stock tickers (cashtags) with a hyperlink back to the article. If you link your TalkMarkets account to your Twitter and StockTwits profiles, you also have the option of having these headlines go out on your profile as well, earning you more equity.
  • There are now "share options" at the end of each post so you can easily share articles to nearly 100 social media sites. Every well-known site is included as are many up-and-coming social companies.
  • You can now post social icons on your TalkMarkets profile which links to your own profile on these sites, helping you to get more followers.

Improved Customization

  • Comments can now be filtered by your investment sophistication level.
  • In addition to following specific contributors, we've enhanced the users' ability to personalize the site by overriding our customization tools and removing contributors from appearing in their customized feeds, email alerts or even on the homepage. Similarly, they can save time by blacklisting stocks which they have no interest in (thank you to contributor IPO Candy for this suggestion) and remove related posts from their customized feeds, emails and homepage.
  • Users also have the option of blocking any user. All activity, including commenting on the site by these users will never be visible to them.
  • Users are still recommended content that is an exact match for their interests, but now have an additional section where they are recommended content which is a partial match. This brings their attention to content they would most likely enjoy, but might not otherwise see.

More About Your Favorite Stocks

  • All posts which mention a stock ticker now list the stock price at the time of publication, the current price as well as the difference between the two.
  • You can choose to follow stocks privately as well as publicly.
  • You can now follow a stock directly from its quote page as well as from any article page that mentions that stock.
  • You can now see other contributors and users who share a public interest in the same stock.
  • We now distinguish between the stocks that are the focus of a post, and the stocks that are merely mentioned or covered to a far lesser extent. This enables us to serve up content which is a better fit for users, while still empowering them to find more information about lesser mentioned stocks when you want to.  For example, view the following screenshot from our Apple quote page:

Earn More Equity

  • You can now refer other contributors to TalkMarkets and can track the status of these referrals. You receive 10 equity points for every referee who registers via your invitation. To check your referral status, log in to your account and go to the dropdown box next to your photo (on the top right of the screen). Scroll over the category called "Earning Equity" and click on "How to Earn Equity." Click on the box "Referring Others."
  • You've been issued a unique link extension which can be tacked on to any TalkMarkets url. Any traffic you drive to TalkMarkets using this extension can be tracked and rewarded accordingly. You can access the unique link extension by clicking on "My Dashboard" and clicking on the box in the middle at the bottom of the screen:

  • You can now create fully customizable headline widgets which you can use to host TalkMarkets headlines on your site. Now we've added even more options for increased flexibility in displaying this content (e.g. below content, headlines only, etc). You earn 1,000 points for hosting the widget and one point for every clickthrough. For a limited time only we are offering triple equity points for posting the widget, so you now can earn three points for every click through. To create your widget, log in to your account and go to the dropdown box next to your photo (on the top right of the screen). Scroll over the category called "Earning Equity." Click on the box "Driving Traffic" and then "Create Headline Widget."

Tech Improvements

  • You can moderate the comments on your own posts.
  • Users now have the option of receiving instant, daily or weekly email alerts.
  • Users can choose to read articles either in a paginated format, or all on one page. Registered users can “save” this preference as their default view with one click.
  • We’ve drastically improved load times by 80%
  • Now that we’ve grown, we’re increasingly becoming the target of spammers. We’ve built numerous spam safeguards which help cut down on this annoyance. Even more will be rolled out in the coming weeks.
  • As part of the first step towards incorporating our proprietary prototype algorithm into the website, we’ve included a rating on the bottom of each article. Users’ ratings are only viewable to themselves. In the future, this information will be an integral part of our algorithm. It will provide us a deeper understanding of what individual users like and will enable us to recommend more suitable content to them.

We will continue to roll out more features and we're looking forward to sharing them with you. Since you are our partners in every sense of the word, it's always important for us to hear your feedback and suggestions. Please don't hesitate to get in touch by clicking the "send message" button underneath my profile picture.
