Amazon is set to report this Thursday, July 26 for its second quarter (Q2) earnings. Estimize predicts that the earnings per share (EPS) will decrease by $0.62 from the previous quarter. 2018’s Q1 EPS was $3.27 and the Q2 projection is $2.65. The decrease in EPS is not a worrying sign, nor is the recent drop in Amazon’s share price due to inflammatory comments by President Donald Trump—mostly because revenue expectations are still intact. Furthermore, 2017’s Q2 EPS was $0.4, so the projected percentage increase year over year (YoY%) is an impressive 563%!

Revenue is projected to increase by $3.154 billion from the previous quarter. Other Amazon services such as Whole Foods and Web Prime Video Streaming are becoming ever more popular. In fact, The Hollywood Reporter writes, “In 2015, there were 205.4 million traditional pay TV subscribers in the U.S., but by 2022 the number will have fallen to 169.7 million.” (1) Furthermore, Amazon just announced expanded grocery delivery operations, which will lead to an increase in revenue for the tech company, up 43% from 2017 Q2 (YoY%).

In line with trends in revenue, Amazon Web Service (AWS) revenue is projected to increase by $575 million to an all-time high of $6.017 billion. The YoY% is a remarkable 47%.

The CSOI numbers are expected to decrease by $283 million from the previous quarter, but that indicator is not that frightening as the CSOI is projected to increase by $1.036 billion over Q2 of 2017—an increase of 56% (YoY%).

With an increase in demand for its video, web, and grocery services, as well as a stable positive trend in its revenue, Amazon will stay strong despite the recent turmoil with the President. So, year over year—in all aspects—Amazon continues to grow.
