Dow Resumes Climb Ahead Of Much-Needed Fed Rhetoric

Stocks are a mixed bag ahead of today's imminent, all-important Fed decision. The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) is up 222 points at last check, heading for a fourth-straight triple digit move, while the S&P 500 Index (SPX) and Nasdaq Composite (IXIC) are trading flat or lower. Ahead of the market-moving Fed decision and subsequent rhetoric, Wall Street's "fear gauge," the Cboe Volatility Index (VIX), is on the rise, heading for a third-straight win.

VF Corp (NYSE: VFC) is seeing outsized options activity today, with a put-heavy bias. At last check, over 34,000 puts have been exchanged -- 29 times the average intraday amount and nearly 10 times the number of calls exchanged. The center of this action is the September 2026 10-strike put, where new positions are opening. At last check, VFC is 2.6% higher to trade at $18.55 but is down nearly 14% in 2025.

GE Vernova Inc (NYSE: GEVis one of the best stocks on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) today, last seen up 13.5% to trade at $711.75. The utility giant doubled its dividend, increased the scope for share buybacks and raised earnings projections. The shares hit a record peak of $725 out of the gate this morning, and are now 117% higher on the year. 

Rideshare app Uber Technologies Inc (NYSE: UBER) is near the bottom of the NYSE, down 4.6% to trade at $84.91. European regulatory pressure and Monday's price-target cut from Morgan Stanley to $110 from $115 are weighing on shares. Uber stock has taken a 16% haircut off its Sept. 22 all-time highs of $101.98, but is still 41% higher year to date.
