Daily Stock Pick: Avient Corp

A new portfolio of stocks I'm building starting today, named Vista, will select its first stock this weekend. Vista is the sixth portfolio I've built (at a one dividend dog per-week pace) since 2014. Six portfolios = VI for Vista!

Vista is planned to Look Ahead for Outstanding, Proven, Dividend Winners. (Like Aristocrats)

Today we'll review the first of four Basic Materials stocks as candidates to be the very first selection for the Vista portfolio

My subject today is a specialty chemicals company named, Avient Corp Its trading ticker symbol is AVNT.  This is my first ever report on Avient Corp (AVNT).

Avient Corp, manufactures and sells a variety of chemical- and plastic-based products to designers and processors of plastics.

The firm is organized into three segments based on the product type. The company's product portfolio includes concentrated color and ink blends, plastic resins and various specialized polymer materials used in industries such as food packaging, construction, transportation, cosmetics, and healthcare.

The color, additives, and ink segment and the distribution segment together generate a vast majority of revenue, and more than half of the total revenue is earned in the United States.

The company sells its products through direct sales personnel, distributors, and commissioned sales agents.

The company was formerly known as PolyOne Corporation and changed its name to Avient Corporation in June 2020.

Avient Corporation was founded in 1927 and is headquartered in Avon Lake, Ohio.

I use three key data points to gauge dividend equities or funds like Avient Corp (AVNT):

(1) Price

(2) Dividends

(3) Returns

Those three basic keys best tell whether a company has made, is making, and will make money.

AVNT Price

Avient's price per share closed at $27.86 Friday.  A year ago its price was $32.50. Price dropped $4.64 or over 14.25% last year.

Assuming Avient's stock trades in the range of $10 to $40 this next year, its recent $27.86 price might rise by $4.14 to reach $32.00 by September 8, 2021.

AVNT Dividends

Avient's most recently declared Quarterly dividend was $0.2025. payable October 8, totaling $0.81 annually and yielding 2.91% at Friday's $27.86 price.

AVNT Gains?

Adding the $0.81 annual anticipated dividend to my $4.14 optimistic estimate of Avient's price upside shows a $4.95 potential gross gain, per share, to be reduced by any costs to trade the shares.

If we put little over $1,000.00 today in  Avient Corp at $27.86, we would buy 36 shares of AVNT stock.

A $10 broker fee paid half at purchase and half at sale could cost us about $0.28 per share.

Subtract that $0.28 brokerage cost from my estimated $4.95 gross gain per share results in a net gain of $4.67 X 36 shares = $168.12 for a 16.8% net gain on a $1,002.96 investment.

Thus, Avient Corp (AVNT) shows a possible 16.8% net gain including a 2.91% dividend yield. It could be more, it could be less.

All of the estimates above are speculation based on the past history of Avient Corp (AVNT).  Only time and money invested in this stock will determine if it is worth your time and money.
