Daily Stock Analysis: Fidelity National Financial (FNF)

The portfolio of stocks I started building September 8, at a one stock per week pace for the next year, is named Vista.  I will select its eighteenth stock this weekend. Vista is the sixth portfolio I've built (at a one dividend dog per-week pace) since 2014. Six portfolios = VI for Vista!

Vista is planned to Look Ahead for Outstanding, Proven, Dividend Winners. (Like Aristocrats)

Today we look at a large-cap specialty insurance company named Fidelity National Financial Inc. Its trading ticker symbol is (FNF).  This is my first ever report on Fidelity National Financial Inc for any of my dog of the week portfolios ever.

Fidelity National Financial Inc has two business groups: FNF Core Operations and FNF Ventures.

Core Operations provides title insurance, escrow, and other title-related services. It also provides technology and transaction services to the real estate and mortgage industries.

FNF Ventures invests in other companies. It has a majority interest in American Blue Ribbon Holdings LLC (ABRH), a restaurant company that operates restaurants such as Bakers Square and Village Inn. In addition, it engages in the real estate brokerage business.

Title insurance premiums comprise close to half of Fidelity's total revenue, and the remaining Core Operations business comprises more than one-third of total company revenue. Almost all remaining revenue is from restaurant sales via FNF Ventures' investments. Substantially all of the company's revenue is generated in the United States.

The company was founded in 1847 and is headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida.

I use three key data points to gauge dividend equities or funds like Fidelity National Financial Inc:

(1) Price

(2) Dividends

(3) Returns

Those three basic keys best tell whether a company has made, is making, and will make money.

FNF Price

Fidelity's price per share closed at $39.44 yesterday. A year ago its price was $45.87. Price is down $6.43 or about 14% on the year.

If Fidelity National Financial Inc stock trades in the range of $20 to $48 this next year, its recent $39.44 price might rise by $5.56 to reach $45.00 by January 7, 2022.

FNF Dividends

Fidelity's most recently declared Quarterly dividend was $0.36 paid December 31st. Dividends are estimated to total $1.44 per share annually and yield 3.65% at yesterday's $39.44 closing price.

FNF Gains?

Adding the $1.44 annual anticipated dividend to my $5.56 optimistic price upside shows a $7.00 potential gross gain, per share, to be reduced by any costs to trade the shares.

Put little over $1,000.00 today in Fidelity National Financial Inc at $39.44 per share and we'd buy 25 shares of FNF stock.

A $10 broker fee (if any) paid half at purchase and half at sale could cost us  about $0.40 per share.

Subtract that maybe $0.40 brokerage cost from my estimated  $7.00 gross gain per share results in a net gain of $6.60 X 25 shares = $171.60 for a 17.17% net gain on a $986.00 investment.

So it goes that Fidelity National Financial Inc (FNF) shows a possible 17.17% net gain including a 3.65% dividend yield. It could be more, it could be less.

All of the estimates above are speculation based on the past history of Fidelity National Financial Inc (FNF).  Only time and money invested in this stock will determine its worth.
