A voronoi of the global semiconductor revenue industry by revenue distribution

Semiconductor Foundries by Global Revenue Share

Semiconductor foundries, manufacturing facilities that produce chips designed by other companies, are crucial pieces of the global tech ecosystem.

These highly specialized factories manufacture advanced chips that power modern devices and technologies like AI, 5G, and renewable energy.

This visualization shows semiconductor foundries by global revenue share in 2024, and their countries of origin.

Who is the World’s Leading Semiconductor Foundry?

Below, we show the top semiconductor foundry companies by share of total foundry revenue, of which the global total was $131.7 billion in 2024.

Can Other Players Challenge Taiwan?

China, the United States, and South Korea are ramping up efforts to expand their semiconductor industries through increased investments and government support to reduce reliance on Taiwan.

While American firms are the global leaders in the overall semiconductor industry accounting for 71.5% of global market cap, this dominance is primarily driven by their strengths in chip design, intellectual property (IP), and software tools.

The manufacturing side of most advanced chips occurs overseas in foundries like TSMC. These factories use highly specialized, cutting-edge equipment, such as extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography machines, to fabricate advanced chips with nanometer-scale precision, making them uniquely capable of producing the most complex and powerful semiconductors.
