Black Friday was black indeed over worries about Omicron, the latest covid-19 variant with some huge number of differences from the covid-19 we and everyone else got shots and boosters against. It has something like 30 mutations in the linkage and 50 mutations overall, but the experts differ

Today the Omicron panic was reduced because it was a more normal market day. However, our Bank of Nova Scotia BNS, which reported Friday (Canada doesn't observe Thanksgiving, remember) fell hard. However, it recuperated today as Canadian banks indicated they are raising their dividends.

*Canada was in focus a lot as Vermilion Energy bought another 36.5% of Corrob Natural Gas Project (VET already owned 20%) making it the main shareholder.

*Kirkland Lake, a gold-miner up north, got shareholder permission to merge with Agnico Eagle, another gold miner. KL.

*BAE Systems, of Britain, is peddling a system for marine power and propulsion to cut down on emissions. BAESY.

*Ericsson is taking over Vonage at $21/share. I exited ERIC today; I need some losers for my brokerage account. Another is Verizon, VZ.

*Schlumberger Ltd goes ex-div tomorrow. SLB.

*Barron thinks IBM is a buy. I never sold it.

*I hope you all noticed that I said not to buy Indian PayTM at the IPO which was a real bust.
