Stocks Edge Higher On U.S.-Vietnam Trade Agreement

The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJI), S&P 500 Index (SPX), and Nasdaq Composite (IXIC) are higher this afternoon, after President Trump revealed the U.S. reached a trade deal with Vietnam, with a 20% levy on imports. A disappointing ADP jobs report is keeping optimism in check, however, as fears over the economy swirl. Investors are also monitoring progress on Trump's tax and spending bill, as it heads back to the House after passing the Senate.

Centene Corp (NYSE: CNC) stock is seeing unusual options activity today, with 61,000 calls and 33,000 puts exchanged so far, which is 38 times the volume normally seen at this point. Most popular is the weekly 7/3 40-strike call, where new positions are being sold to open. CNC is down 39% to trade at $34.55 at last glance, after the health insurance company withdrew is 2025 guidance, noting higher costs associated with its Medicaid enrollees and underperformance in its Affordable Care Act plans business. Shares are eyeing their worst day on record and earlier gapped an eight-year low of $33.97. This year, CNC has already shed over 43%.

Mining stock Freeport-McMoRan Inc(NYSE: FCXis leading the SPX today, last seen up 5.4% to trade at $46.41. Today's pop follows a rise in copper prices, as China's yuan strengthened and the U.S. dollar weakened, offsetting global trade uncertainty. FCX now sports a 22.2% year-to-date lead and earlier surged to a fresh 2025 peak of $46.69, after bouncing off support from the 20-day moving average.

Adobe Inc(Nasdaq: ADBE) stock is off 4.3% to trade at $375.09 at last check, on the heels of a downgrade from Rothschild & Co Redburn to "sell" from "neutral" with a price target cut to $280 from $420. The equity is looking to snap a three-day win streak and carries a 33.8% year-over-year deficit as it trades below all key long- and short-term moving averages.
