Stock Charts To Watch - Thursday, March 5

Adaptimmune Therapeutics plc (ADAP) exploded mid-Jan, pulled back, I put a swing on it, it popped but couldn’t break out, consolidated another month on low volume, and on Thursday, it was an engulfing reversal day, popping 26 cents, or 7.5%, to 3.72, just 5 cents off the session high at 3.77, but still on very low volume at 398,522 shares traded. It may be the beginning of something. We’ll see if it has a follow-through. Targets are 4 3/4 and 6.

BioXcel Therapeutics, Inc. (BTAI) has a really nice-looking pattern. I may be putting a swing on it. It’s four waves up. The pop on Thursday took it up another 2.21, or 7.38%, to 32.17, with a session high of 35, on 1 million shares traded. If it ramps five waves up, it will be 60, or better.

GenMark Diagnostics, Inc. (GNMK) had a very explosive day on Thursday, jumping 1.06, or 23%, to 5.63, after running up to 5.97 earlier in the day, on 10 million shares traded. That’s the biggest volume ever for this stock. Now that it’s four days up with a gap, as well, I think the possibility that this stock will make a more substantial move is pretty good now that it’s taken out the declining topsline with a thrust. If there’s follow-through, I expect it to run up to 6 1/2-7, and then maybe 8.

Inovio Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (INO) exploded again on Thursday, jumping another 1.78, or 22%, to 10.10, before pulling back and closing up 9.80, on 110.4 million shares traded. Wednesday’s volume was 140 million shares traded. In just three days, this stock has traded a third of a billion shares. It might be a little short-term extended. There’s a little resistance at 11 1/2, and then 13 1/2-14 if it does try to extend.

Sangamo Therapeutics, Inc. (SGMO) popped, broke out, I put a swing on it, and it backed off. Thursday it reversed from 8 to 8.53, gaining 40 cents, or 5%, in addition to another 32 cents, or 3.75%, to 8.86, in after-hours, on 5.2 million shares traded. If it gets above 9.20, I’m looking for 10 1/2 and 12 going forward.

Vipshop Holdings Limited (VIPS) had a significant breakaway gap above two moving averages and double top at the top of the channel, closing up 3.54, or 27%, to 16.66, after reaching session and multi-week high at 17.06, on 37 million shares traded. That’s a huge move. I think it’s a breakout move and not a top. There’s some resistance here so there may be some backing and filling. I’m looking at 19 for the next target.
