Plant-Based Food Stocks Index Last Week By 15%; Its Biggest Names Down Most

There are only 5 stocks in the munKNEE Pure-Play Plant-Based Food Stocks Index and they are those in the sector that have market caps in excess of $50M. The Index was dragged down 15.2% last week by a 20.5% drop in the price of the Beyond Meat stock and a 17.3% drop in the price of the Oatly Group stock.

Below is the performance of the constituents in the index last week, in descending order, with their performances since the end of June in brackets:

  1. Guru Organic Energy (CSE: GURU; GUROF): No Change this past week (No Change since the end of June)
    • a Montreal, Canada beverage company launched in 1999, when it pioneered the world’s first natural, plant-based energy drink.
  2. Tattooed Chef (TTCF): DOWN 2.3% this past week (UP 3.6% since the end of June)
    • offers a broad portfolio of plant-based food products that are available in the frozen food sections of national retail food stores across the United States.
  3. Else Nutrition (BABYF): DOWN 5.9% this past week (UP 33.3% since the end of June)
    • an Israel-based food and nutrition company focused on developing innovative, clean, and plant-based food and nutrition products for infants, toddlers, children, and adults.
  4. Oatly Group (OTLY): DOWN 17.3% this past week (now DOWN 2.0% since the end of June)
    • the world’s original and largest oat drink company catering primarily to customers in Sweden, Germany, United Kingdom, Netherlands, Finland, and North America.
  5. Beyond Meat (BYND): DOWN 20.5% this past week (still UP 21.9% since the end of June)
    •  seeks to replicate the look, cook, and taste of meat. Its products are sold in the meat case of retail food stores across the U.S. and Canada and 83 other countries.

In total, the munKNEE Pure-Play Plant-Based Food Stocks Index went DOWN 15.2% this past week and is now only UP 12.7% since the end of June. These are generally not yet seen as value plays even at the lower price.
