As mentioned last week Tatttooed Chef 's filing for Chapter 11 (bankruptcy) has reduced the number of constituents in the munKNEE Plant-based Food Stocks Index to just 2 stocks. Back in March 2021, we were tracking 10 stocks, and have watched almost all of those fall by the wayside or diversify. BYND is the last remaining member of our original index. OTLY IPOed in May 2022 and was added to our index at that time.

The two constituents are ranked below as to their performances MTD and YTD:

  1. Beyond Meat (BYND): UP 36.1% MTD; UP 43.8% YTD
    • Its products seek to replicate the look, "cook", and taste of meat and are sold in the meat case of retail food stores across the U.S. and Canada and 83 other countries.
    • BYND shares are up as a result of the company's announcement that its brand, Beyond Steak, has been listed by Publix, Whole Foods Market, Wegmans, Meijer, and Stater Bros. Markets in the U.S. and will be available at almost 14,000 stores nations wide.
    • current short interest: 42.4% A high short interest signals that investors have become more bearish and may be getting ready to sell and, as such, that it may be time to liquidate a long position.
  2. Oatly Group (OTLY): UP 7.3% MTD; UP 26.4% YTD
    • Oatly is the world’s largest oat drink company catering to customers in Sweden, Finland, Netherlands (Holland), Germany, the U.K., the U.S., and Canada.
    • current short interest: 7.5%
