Nvidia Predicts Artificial General Intelligence In Five Years: Recap Of Nvidia GTC Conference Day Two

After a landmark first day at #GTC2024, conference attendees got into the meat of Nvidia’s (NVDA) hundreds of talks, workshops and sessions on Tuesday 19th.

Among the highlights of the day were Microsoft GenAI vice president Sébastien Bubeck discussing Large language models (LLMs) versus smaller models, and a spotlight on how healthcare is embracing generative AI by Nvidia’s Kimberly Powell.

There were also talks by speakers like OpenAI COO Brad Lightcap, Google DeepMind’s director of robotics Vincent Vanhoucke and Meta’s vice president of AI Research Joelle Pineau.

Another highlight of the day came in the form of a Q&A press conference session, in which Jensen Huang responded to queries from the media.

Several nuggets of information came out of this session, including Huang saying that he saw AI achieving general intelligence, depending on how the term is defined, within the next five years, according to Barron’s.

Another eye-opening titbit from Tuesday? During the press conference, Huang was asked as to the price of the new Blackwell chips by CNBC. Huang then told CNBC that the new chips would set customers back by more than $30,000, and even up to $40,000 each.
