Largest Canadian Cannabis LPs Advanced 4.5% This Week

The Canadian Cannabis LPs Index consists of the 5 largest pure-play vertically integrated (i.e. seed-to-sale) Canadian Licensed Producers (LPs). Below are the performances of its constituents for this week, in descending order, since the beginning of October (3 weeks) and since the end of August (i.e. 7 weeks). Go here for the latest in analysis and commentary on each of the companies.

  1. Tilray (TLRY): UP 7.0% this week; UP 21.7% in the last 3 weeks; No Change since the end of August
  2. Aurora (ACB): UP 5.8% this week; DOWN 10.6% in the last 3 weeks; DOWN 27.2% since the end of August
  3. Cronos (CRON): UP 5.0% this week; UP 4.3% in the last 3 weeks; DOWN 1.0% since the end of August
  4. Canopy Growth (CGC): UP 1.7% this week; DOWN 12.5% in the last 3 weeks; DOWN 30.9% since the end of August
  5. Organigram (OGI): No Change this week; UP 2.3% in the last 3 weeks; DOWN 12.6% since the end of August

In total, the munKNEE Canadian Cannabis LPs Index was UP 4.5% this week, is UP 2.6% in the past 3 weeks and DOWN 13.3% since the end of August.

As I mentioned in my recent article on marijuana ETFs (see here), if you are interested in investing in the Canadian LP category the ETFs with the largest percentage of such stocks is the Global X Cannabis ETF (POTX) which, for comparison purposes, was UP 2.9% this week, is UP 1.7% in the past 3 weeks and is DOWN 13.6% since the end of August.)

If you believe that the category has more or less bottomed and is setting the stage to surge upwards then you might want to consider investing in one of the bull ETFs mentioned below::

  1. ETFMG 2x Daily Bull Alternative Harvest ETF (MJXL)
  2. Horizons 2x Bull Marijuana Companies ETF (HMJU)

Conversely, if you think the category is going to decline further you might want to consider investing in one of the following inversely leveraged ETFs:

  2. BetaPro 2x Inverse Canadian Marijuana Companies ETF (HMJI)
