Israeli fabless semiconductor maker Tower TSEM was bought by Intel INTC for $5.4 bn today and the stock price rose to $41.80, the price being paid. Tower Semi was cheap because it is not currently able to make chips. This is enough to pay your subscription prices for the next decade. Other tech stocks rose in sympathy.

The big news today is that there will probably not be a Putin attack on Ukraine so stocks are buoyant. Give peace a chance. The Dow Jones is up over 300%.

Oil and energy 

*Shell plans to sell its UK North Sea oilfields. RDS-B.

*NIO is up 3.3% after its stock was bought by Cathie Woods and Ray Dalio. It makes cars in China.

*After dropping Monday Schlumberger SLB recouped today. It helps find oil and gas with tracking systems.

*CAE was upgraded to buy from hold by TD Ameritrade and its price rose 5.5%. It mines uranium.

*Energy Fuels, UUUU, rose 2.71% tracking Cameco which was upgraded to buy from hold by TD Ameritrade today. CCJ. It mines rare earths.

*Iron ore prices fell 8% overnight.

*Plug Power gained 10% overnight. PLUG.

*Chilean Soquimich is up 1.5% because the new lefty government doesn't know what to do with it.

*Astra Zeneca AZN will acquire Lynparza which makers abiraterone to treat prostate cancers cutting deaths by more than a third. 

*Genfit is up 5.26% on no news. GNFT.

*Eli Lilly is up 3% after it arranged to buy Immunogen's camptothecin for $1.7 bn from ADC. LLY.

*Illumina (ILMN) and PE32Health will work together to offer the former's blood test for early detection of multiple cancers. 

*Glaxo GSK will stop offering 340B discounts on its drugs. China will buy benlysta lupus remedies from Glaxo. 

*Dr. Reddy’s today announced the launch of its authorized generic version of Par Pharma (vasopressin injection, USP) Vials in the U.S. Market approved by the U.S. FDA. RDY.

*GE got FDA approval for its magnetic resonance systems for imaging and tomography.

*Jersey-based Novocure rose 4.6% over hopes for its tumor treating fields. It was tipped by Truist Bank overnight. NVCR.

*VIR is up 5.12%. It reports Feb. 24.

*Theravance is up 5.83%. It reports on Feb 23. TBPH.

*Zymeworks gained another 4.8% after falling Monday to a year's low. ZYME.
