Get Ready: Wearable AI Is Coming In November
We got a first peek in April at a smart-phone replacing, wearable, screen-less, standalone device built from the ground up for AI when it was demoed during a TED Talk led by Humane co-founder Imran Chaudhri. It got a name in June, the "Humane Ai Pin" (yes, lowercase “i” in AI) and got a look at what the Ai Pin looks like on September 29th when it was featured during Paris Fashion Week, in collaboration with French luxury brand Coperni.
As can be seen in the video of his presentation Chaudhri:
- answers a call from his wife with the lexical command of ‘I’m going to have to get this. which is synonymous with answering the call, hence triggering the pick-up function for the phone call,
- demonstrates the Ai Pin's ability
- to translate English to French using AI translation, in his own voice,
- to provide a summary of news and information
- to be a personal voice assistant reminding the user of their health issues and helping them with their indecisiveness when it comes to decisions.
It is equipped with a laser projector that takes the place of a smartphone screen, along with a camera and speaker and is powered by an advanced Snapdragon chip platform from Qualcomm Technologies. Humane plans to fully unveil the device on November 9th. Meanwhile, on Oct. 1 Humane's head of product engineering posted this 360-degree look at the device:
I can’t wait until you can see all the details about the @Humane Ai Pin. I think you’re going to like it. Full unveiling on November 9.

Humane was founded by Bethany Bongiorno and Imran Chaudhri, ex-Apple employees who played major roles in the creation of both the iPhone and iPad. Chaudhri is credited with designing the interactions and interface of the original iPhone, and Bongiorno with helping to oversee the launch of the original iPad as then director of software engineering at Apple, among other projects.
Chaudhri reports that the Humane Ai Pin "uses a range of sensors that enable natural and intuitive compute interactions and is designed to weave seamlessly into users’ day-to-day lives. The device is privacy-first, with aspects such as no wake word and therefore no ‘always on’ listening, reflecting Humane’s vision of building products which place trust at the center. [In addition,] the Ai Pin does not need to be paired with a smartphone or other companion device and includes AI-powered optical recognition and a laser-projected display." Chaudhri believes that the Ai Pin presents a huge opportunity for people to redefine their relationship to technology and that it will enable personal mobile computing to become faster, more powerful, and easier to use concluding that ‘The first Humane device will allow people to bring Ai with them everywhere and we’re really looking forward to revealing more at our launch on November 9th."
Luke Lango, the editor of hypergrowth investing, in an article entitled The ‘iPhone For AI’, believes that "the internet didn’t go mainstream and truly change the world until the iPhone launched and, similarly, AI won’t go mainstream and truly change the world until it has its own iPhone moment” and he thinks that moment will come with the introduction of a device such as the Ai Pin, or a competitive device, "that puts the power of AI in everyone’s hands, just as the iPhone did for the internet 15 years ago."
Conclusion
AI will change the world, likely even more than the internet did, and the pace of that change will skyrocket once the Ai Pin is launched and successfully manufactured and sold in quantity. Humane's most recent fundraise was a $100M Series C round. Investors who want to prepare for what could be a pivotal in the AI boom before that vision becomes a reality can consider Qualcomm (QCOM) or any of Humane's publicly held investors.
