E Daily Stock Review: The Buckle Inc

This week, I'm seeking the second robust dividend-paying stock from the consumer cyclical business sector for my Ivy portfolio.

That cyclicals sector includes twenty-eight industries ranging from Advertising Agencies to Apparel, Autos, Broadcasting, Department Stores, Gambling, Leisure, Lodging, Packaging, Personal Services, Shoes, Restaurants, Rubber, Plastics, Textiles, and all such consumer aimed enterprises.

Today I'm reviewing a small-cap apparel stores firm, named Buckle Inc. Its trading ticker symbol is BKE.

Buckle, Inc. is a retailer of casual apparel, footwear, and accessories for fashion conscious young men and women. It operates 468 stores located in 44 states all over the continental United States.

It markets a selection of brand name casual apparel, including denims, other casual bottoms, tops, sportswear, outerwear, accessories, and footwear, as well as private label merchandise.

The company also provides services, such as hemming, gift wrapping, layaways, guest loyalty program, the Buckle private label credit card, and personalized stylist services, as well as special order system that allows stores to obtain requested merchandise from other company stores or its online order fulfillment center.

It provides its products through 456 retail stores in 43 states, as well as through its Website, buckle.com.

The company was formerly known as Mills Clothing, Inc. and changed its name to The Buckle, Inc. in April 1991.

The Buckle, Inc. was founded in 1948 and is headquartered in Kearney, Nebraska.

I use three key data points to gauge the value of any dividend equity or fund like Buckle Inc.:

(1) Price

(2) Dividends

(3) Returns

Besides those three, four more keys  will finally unlock an equity or fund in which to invest.

But those first three primary keys, best tell whether a company has made, is making, and will make money.

BKE Price

Buckle's price per share was $19.70 at yesterday's market close. A year ago its price was $21.20 for a price drop of $1.50 per share for the year, for a 7% tumble.
