Daily Stock Pick: Xperi Corporation

A portfolio of stocks I've been building since September 3, 2019, named Volio, will eventually hold 52 dividend dogs. Volio is the fifth portfolio I've built (at a one dividend dog per-week pace) since 2014. Five portfolios = V for Volio!

Today I'm reviewing the fourth of five technology sector stocks poised to join my Volio folio this week. One could be my forty-second pick for Volio!

That technology sector includes nineteen industries ranging from communication equipment, computers, consumer electronics, and contract manufacturing, to health, information technology and services, to internet, scientific instruments, software, solar, and all such techno-marvels.

My subject today is a small-cap semiconductor equipment and materials outfit named, Xperi Holding Corp. Its trading ticker symbol is XPER. This is my second report this year on Infosys Ltd for this Volio portfolio. My previous report aired on April 1st.

Xperi Holding Corp is a provider of semiconductor packaging and interconnects solutions and intellectual property products to original equipment manufacturers.

The company has two reportable segments: Product Licensing segment and the Semiconductor and IP Licensing segment.

It generates maximum revenue from the Product Licensing segment. The company has a presence in Korea, Japan, the U.S., Europe, and the Middle East, Taiwan, and other countries of which generate maximum revenue from Korea.

It serves automotive, home solutions, mobile, pro audio and content solutions, semiconductor technologies, and intellectual property markets.

The company is based in San Jose, California.

I use three key data points to gauge dividend equities or funds like Xperi Holding Corp:

(1) Price

(2) Dividends

(3) Returns

Those three basic keys best tell whether a company has made, is making, and will make money.

XPER Price

Xperi's price per share closed at $13.51 yesterday. A year ago their price was $19.46. Price fell $5.95 or about 30.5% last year.

Assuming Xperi's stock trades in the range of $8 to $20  this next year, its recent $13.51 price might rise by $2.49 to reach $16.00 by June 18, 2021.

XPER Dividends

Xperi's most recent declared quarterly dividend was $0.20 payable, June 12th. That $0.20 Q dividend equates to $0.80 annually and yields 5.92% at yesterday's $13.51 share price.

XPER Gains?

Adding the $0.80 annual estimated dividend to my $2.49 optimistic estimate of Xperi Holding Corp price upside shows a $3.29 potential gross gain, per share, to be reduced by any costs to trade the shares.

If we put little under $1,000.00 today in Xperi Holding Corp  we would buy 74 shares of XPER stock.

A $10 broker fee paid half at purchase and half at sale could cost us about $0.14 per share.

Subtract that $0.14 brokerage cost from my estimated $3.29 gross gain per share results in a net gain of $3.25 X 74 shares = $240.50 for a 24.05% net gain on a $999.74 investment.

Xperi Holding Corp shows a possible 25.05% net gain including a 5.92% dividend yield. It could be more, it could be less.

The above speculation is based on past performance and supposition. Only time and money invested will tell if Xperi Holding Corp is worth it.
