Daily Stock Pick: Nu Skin (NUS)

A portfolio of stocks I've been building since September 3, 2019, is named Volio. It will eventually hold 52 dividend dogs. Volio is the fifth portfolio I've built (at a one dividend dog per-week pace) since 2014. Five portfolios = V for Volio!

Today I'm reviewing the second of five consumer defensive sector stocks striving to join my Volio folio. This could be my twenty-eighth pick for Volio!

That consumer defensive sector includes twelve industries all related to providing convenient packaged goods we've just gotta have. Industries like: beverages, brewed, soft, or distilled; confectioners; discount stores; education & training; farm products; food distribution; grocery stores; household & personal products; packaged goods; tobacco.

My subject today is a small-cap household and personal products industry representative named, Nu Skin Enterprises Inc. Their trading ticker symbol is NUS. This is my first ever report about Nu Skin Enterprises Inc (NUS).

Nu Skin Enterprises Inc is a health and beauty direct-selling company with a comprehensive product line: anti-aging skin products; peels, masks, and scrubs; moisturizers; body care; hair care; men's care; oral care; sun protection; and cosmetics.

The company has three main product divisions: anti-aging, skin, and pharmaceuticals. The pharmaceuticals division offers nutritionals, weight-management products, and food supplements. The company has operations internationally, in more than 50 countries across the Americas, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific.

The company promotes and sells its products directly, as well as through distributors and Website.

Nu Skin Enterprises, Inc. was founded in 1984 and is headquartered in Provo, Utah.

I use three key data points to gauge dividend equities or funds like Nu Skin Enterprises, Inc:

(1) Price

(2) Dividends

(3) Returns

Besides those three, several other keys will finally unlock an equity or fund in which to invest, or not.

Those three basic keys, however, best tell whether a company has made, is making, and will make money.

NUS Price

Nu Skin's price per share closed at $23.26 yesterday. A year ago their price was $58.58. Thus, in the past year, their market price dropped $35.32 over 60%

Assuming Nu Skin's stock trades in the range of $20 to $30 this next year, its recent $23.26 price might rise by $5.74 to reach $29.00  by March 10, 2021, assuming upward price momentum eventually kicks-in.

NUS Dividends

U Skin's latest declared quarterly dividend was $0.375 payable tomorrow, March 11. That $0.375 Q dividend equates to an annual payout of $1.50 and yields 6.45% at yesterday's $23.26 share price.

NUS Gains?

Adding the $1.50 annual estimated dividend to my $5.74 estimate of Nu Skin Enterprises, Inc price upside shows a $7.24 potential gross gain, per share, which will be reduced by any costs to trade those shares.

Put a little over $1,000.00 today invested into Nu Skin Enterprises, Inc at its recent $23.26 price, would buy 43 shares of NUS.

A $10 broker fee paid half at purchase and half at sale could cost about $0.23 per share.

Subtract that $0.23 brokerage cost from the estimated $7.24 gross estimated gain per share results in a net gain of $7.01 X 43 shares = $301.43 or a 30.125% net gain on a $1,000.18 investment.

Therefore, Nu Skin Enterprises, Inc, whose trading ticker symbol is NUS shows a possible 30.125% net gain including a 6.45% dividend yield. It could be more, it could be less.

The above speculation is based on past year performance. The actual results remain to be seen to learn if Nu Skin Enterprises, Inc, is worth your time and money.
