Daily Stock Pick: Nu Skin Enterprises

A portfolio of stocks I've been building since September 3, 2019, named Volio, will eventually hold 52 dividend dogs. Volio is the fifth portfolio I've built (at a one dividend dog per-week pace) since 2014. Five portfolios = V for Volio!

Today I'm reviewing the fourth of five consumer defensive sector stocks poised to join my Volio folio this week. This could be my thirty-eighth pick for Volio!

That consumer defensive sector includes twelve industries all related to providing convenient packaged goods we've just gotta have. Industries like: beverages, brewed, soft, or distilled; confectioners; discount stores; education & training; farm products; food distribution; grocery stores; household & personal products; packaged goods; tobacco.

My subject today is a personal products supplier named, Nu Skin Enterprises Co. Its trading ticker symbol is NUS. This is my second report on Nu Skin Enterprises Co. It was previously reviewed on March 10.

Nu Skin Enterprises, Inc. develops and distributes personal care and wellness products worldwide.

It provides skin care systems, as well as a range of other cosmetic and personal care products.

The company also offers nutritional supplements, weight management and body shaping systems, and weight management products. In addition, it is involved in the research and product development of skin care products and nutritional supplements.

Further, the company operates retail stores and service centers in Mainland China which has decreased in volume. It sells its products under the Nu Skin, Pharmanex, and ageLOC brands.

The company promotes and sells its products directly, as well as through distributors and a Website.

Nu Skin Enterprises, Inc. was founded in 1984 and is headquartered in Provo, Utah.

I use three key data points to gauge dividend equities or funds like Nu Skin Enterprises Co:

(1) Price

(2) Dividends

(3) Returns

Besides those three, several other keys will finally unlock an equity or fund in which to invest, or not.

Those three basic keys, however, best tell whether a company has made, is making, and will make money.

NUS Price

Nu Skin's price per share closed at $36.11 yesterday. A year ago their price was $51.38. Market price dropped $15.27 or just about 29.7% in the past year.

Assuming Nu Skin's stock trades in the range of $5 to $45 this next year, its recent $16.11 price might rise by $0.89 to reach $37.00 by May 21, 2021.

NUS Dividends

Nu Skin's most recent declared quarterly dividend was $0.375 paid February 27th That $0.375 Q dividend equates to $1.50 annually and yields 4.15% at yesterday's $36.11 share price.

NUS Gains?

Adding the 1.50 annual estimated dividend to my $0.89 optimistic estimate of Nu Skin's price upside shows a $2.39 potential gross gain, per share, reduced by any costs to trade those shares.

A little over $1,000.00 invested today in Nu Skin Enterprises Co  shares at their $36.11 price, buys 28 shares of NUS stock.

A $10 broker fee paid half at purchase and half at sale could cost about $0.36 per share.

Subtract that $0.36  brokerage cost from my estimated $2.39 gross gain per share results in a net gain of $2.03 X 28 shares = $56.84 for a 5.7% net gain on a $1,011.08 investment.

Nu Skin Enterprises Co shows a possible 5.7% net gain including a 4.15% dividend yield. It could be more, it could be less.

The above speculation is based on past performance and supposition. Only time and money invested will tell if Nu Skin Enterprises Co is worth it.
