A portfolio of stocks I've been building since September 3 is named Volio. It will eventually hold 52 dividend dogs. Volio is the fifth portfolio I've built (at a one dividend dog per-week pace) since 2014. Five portfolios = V for Volio!
Today I'm reviewing the first of five technology sector stocks striving to join my Volio folio. This could be the sixteenth pick for Volio!
That technology sector has nineteen industries ranging from communication equipment, computers, consumer electronics, and contract manufacturing, to health, information technology, and services, to internet, scientific instruments, software, solar, and all such techno-marvels.
My subject today is a large-cap semiconductor firm, named, Maxim Integrated Products Inc. Their trading ticker symbol is MXIM. This is my first ever report on MXIM.
Maxim Integrated makes high-performance analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits.
The company offers a wide range of products serving a host of analog-intensive applications, including power management, audio conversion, and sensors.
Maxim supplies its diverse product portfolio to a broad base of customers in the communications, computing, industrial, automotive, and consumer-related end markets.
The company markets its products through a direct-sales and applications organization, as well as through its own and other unaffiliated distribution channels.
Maxim Integrated Products, Inc. was founded in 1983 and is headquartered in San Jose, California.
I use three key data points to gauge dividend-paying equities or funds like Maxim Integrated Products Inc:
(1) Price
(2) Dividends
(3) Returns
Besides those three, several other keys will finally unlock an equity or fund in which to invest, or not.
Those three basic keys, however, best tell whether a company has made, is making, and will make money.
MXIM Price
Maxim's price per share closed at $59.59 on Friday. A year ago its price was $52.20. So, in the past year, its price moved up $7.39, or about 14.15%.
Assuming Maxim's stock trades in the same range of $50 to $65 this next year, it's recent $59.59 price could rise by $3.41 to reach $63.00 by mid-December, 2020, assuming upward price momentum continues.
MXIM Dividends
Maxim's latest declared quarterly dividend was $0.48 per share paid December 13th.
That $0.48 Q dividend equates to $1.92 annually and yields 3.22% based on yesterday's $59.59 closing price.
MXIM Gains?
Adding the $1.92 annual estimated dividend to my $3.41 optimistic estimate of Maxim's price upside shows a $5.33 potential gross gain, per share, which will be reduced by any costs to trade these shares.
As, for costs, a little over $1,000.00 invested today in Maxim Integrated Products Inc at its recent $59.59 price, would buy 17 shares of MXIM.
A $10 broker fee paid half at purchase and half at sale could cost us about $0.59 per share.
Subtract that $0.59 brokerage cost from the estimated $5.33 gross estimated gain per share leaves a net gain of $4.74 X 17 shares = $80.58 or an 8.5% net gain on a $1.013.03 investment.
Therefore, Maxim Integrated Products Inc, whose trading ticker symbol is MXIM shows a possible 8.5% net gain including a 3.22% dividend yield. It could be more, it could be less.
The above speculation is based on past year performance. The actual results remain to be seen to learn if Maxim Integrated Products Inc, is worth your time and money.
