Daily Stock Pick: Ituran

This week, I'm looking for the sixth technology representative of six for my Ivy portfolio.

That technology sector has nineteen industries ranging from communication equipment, computers, consumer electronics, and contract manufacturing, to health, information technology and services, to internet, scientific instruments, software, solar, and all such techno-marvels.

Today I'm reviewing a small-cap communication equipment company named Ituran Location and Control Ltd. Their trading ticker symbol is ITRN. I last reported on this firm on August 16, 2018.

Ituran Location and Control Ltd is a provider of location-based services. The company operates in two segments namely, Telematics services, and Telematics products.

The Telematics services segment consists of regionally- based stolen vehicle recovery (SVR) services, fleet management services and value-added services comprised of personal advanced locater services and concierge services.

The Telematics product segment consists of short and medium range two-way machine-to-machine wireless communications products that are used for various applications, including automatic vehicle location, and automatic vehicle identification.

The equipment segment contributes to the majority of total revenue. As of December 31, 2018, ITRN served approximately 230,000 end-users through 40,000 corporate customers in Israel, Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Ecuador, Colombia, and the United States.

The company was founded in 1994 and is headquartered in Azor, Israel.

I use three key data points to gauge dividend-paying equities or funds like Ituran Location and Control Ltd:

(1) Price

(2) Dividends

(3) Returns

Besides those three, several other keys will finally unlock an equity or fund in which to invest.

Those three basic keys, however, best tell whether a company has made, is making, and will make money.

ITRN Price

Ituran's price per share closed at $30.19 yesterday. A year ago its price was $29.80. Price rose $0.39 or 1.3% in the past year.

Assuming Ituran's stock trades in the range of $29.00 to $39.00 this year, Ituran's recent $30.19 price could rise by $4.81 and go to 45.00 by mid-July, 2020.

ITRN Dividends

Ituran's most recent quarterly dividend is $0.24 paid July 3rd.

That $0.24 Q payout equates to an annual dividend of $0.96 which produces a yield of 3.18% based on yesterday's $30.19 closing price.

Gains For ITRN?

Adding the $0.96 annual estimated dividend to my $4.21 estimate of Ituran's price upside shows a $5.17 potential gross annual gain, per share, which will be reduced by costs to trade those shares.

Say we pay a little under $1,000.00 today at the $30.19 recent stock price, we'd buy 33 Ituran Location and Control Ltd shares.

A $10 broker fee paid half at purchase and half at sale will cost us $0.30 per share.

Subtract that $0.30 brokerage cost from the estimated $5.17 gross annual gain leaves a net gain of 4.87 X 33 shares = $160.71 or a 16.1% net gain on a $996.27 investment.

Therefore, Ituran Location and Control Ltd whose trading ticker symbol is ITRN now shows a possible net gain of 16.1% including a 3.18% dividend yield.

Two brokers track Ituran Location and Control Ltd  (ITRN) stock:

One says "Buy" ITRN.

One says ITRN will "Outperform" its peers.

Their consensus score of 1.5 equates to "outperform."

Now we can look at Ituran Location and Control Ltd and see it has made money, is making money, and could net an 18.1% gain including a 3.18% dividend yield. It could be more, it could be less.

The above speculation is based on past year performance. The actual results remain to be seen to learn if Ituran Location and Control Ltd is worth your time and money.
