Daily Stock Pick: Intertape Polymer Group
This week, I'm seeking the second robust dividend-paying stock from the consumer cyclical business sector for my Ivy portfolio.
That cyclicals sector includes twenty-eight industries ranging from Advertising Agencies to Apparel, Autos, Broadcasting, Department Stores, Gambling, Leisure, Lodging, Packaging, Personal Services, Shoes, Restaurants, Rubber, Plastics, Textiles, and all such consumer aimed enterprises.
Today I'm reviewing a small-cap packaging and containers firm, named Intertape Polymer Group Inc. Its trading ticker symbol is ITPOF.
Intertape Polymer Group Inc is a part of the packaging industry. It manufactures and sells paper and film based pressure sensitive and water activated tapes and other packaging systems for industrial and retail use in Canada, the United States, and internationally.
It develops, manufactures, and sells various paper and film based pressure sensitive and water activated tapes, and complementary packaging systems for industrial and retail use.
The company taping solutions comprise hot melt carton sealing, double-coated, filament, and reinforced filament tapes.
It also provides flexible intermediate bulk containers; membrane structure and geomembrane fabrics; stretch and shrink films; retail and specialty products; lumber wraps; carton sealing machines; and roof underlayment.
Its market solutions serve aerospace, automotive, industrial, and building and construction applications. In addition, the company engages in financing business.
It sells its products to a range of industry/specialty distributors, retail stores, and end-users in various industries. Intertape Polymer Group Inc. was founded in 1981 and is based in Montreal, Canada.
I use three key data points to gauge the value of any dividend equity or fund like Intertape Polymer Group Inc.:
(1) Price
(2) Dividends
(3) Returns
Besides those three, four more keys will finally unlock an equity or fund in which to invest.
But those first three primary keys, best tell whether a company has made, is making, and will make money.
ITPOF Price
Intertape's price per share was $12.59 at yesterday's market close. A year ago its price was $16.90 for a price drop of $4.50 per share for the year or a 25.5% tumble.
Assuming Intertape's price will trade in the range of $10 to $18 next year, Intertape's recent $12.59 price could maybe climb by $2.00 and improve to $14.59 by pre-December, 2019.
ITPOF Dividends
Intertape's most recent quarterly dividend was $0.14 declared November 8th and payable, December 28th.
That $0.14 quarterly stipend equates to an annual amount of $0.56 yielding 4.44% at yesterday's closing $12.59 price.
Gains For ITPOF?
Adding the $0.56 annual dividend to my estimated $2.00 annual price upside estimate for Intertape Polymer Group Inc. adds up to a $2.56 potential gross annual per share gain, which will be reduced by the costs to trade its shares.
For over $1,000.00 invested today at the $12.59 recent price we could buy 80 ITPOF shares.
A $10 broker fee paid half at purchase and half at sale costs us $0.125 per share
Subtracting that $0.125 brokerage cost from the estimated $1.56 gross annual gain leaves a net gain of $1.435 X 80 shares
= $114.80
for a 1% net gain on a $1,007.2 investment.
Therefore, Intertape Polymer Group Inc, whose trading ticker symbol is ITPOF, now shows a possible 11.4% net gain including the 4.44% dividend yield.
No brokers cover this stock:
So I get no argument for my estimates.
Therefore, you may choose to look at Intertape Polymer Group Inc, and see it has made money, is making money, but could net a 5 to 10% net annual gain including that 4.44% dividend yield. It could be more, it could be less.
The above speculation is based on past year performance. The actual results remain to be seen to determine if Intertape Polymer Group is worth your time and money.
