Daily Stock Pick: Infosys (INFY)

A portfolio of stocks I've been building since September 3, 2019, named Volio, will eventually hold 52 dividend dogs. Volio is the fifth portfolio I've built (at a one dividend dog per-week pace) since 2014. Five portfolios = V for Volio!

Today I'm reviewing the second of five technology sector stocks poised to join my Volio folio this week. One could be my forty-second pick for Volio!

That technology sector includes nineteen industries ranging from communication equipment, computers, consumer electronics, and contract manufacturing, to health, information technology and services, to internet, scientific instruments, software, solar, and all such techno-marvels.

My subject today is a large-cap information technology services outfit named, Infosys Ltd. Its trading ticker symbol is INFY.  This is my second report this year on Infosys Ltd for this Volio portfolio. My previous report aired on March 30.

Infosys is a global provider of consulting and IT services. The company was founded in 1981, employs more than 200,000 staff, and serves clients in over 40 countries.

Infosys provides myriad services, including business process outsourcing, IT outsourcing, consulting and systems integration, among many others.

The firm serves more than 20 industries ranging from financial services and healthcare to manufacturing and consumer packaged retail.

The company was formerly known as Infosys Technologies Limited and changed its name to Infosys Limited in June 2011.

Infosys Limited is headquartered in Bengaluru, India.

I use three key data points to gauge dividend equities or funds like Infosys Ltd:

(1) Price

(2) Dividends

(3) Returns

Those three basic keys best tell whether a company has made, is making, and will make money.

INFY Price

Infosys's price per share closed at $9.22 yesterday. A year ago their price was $10.60. Price dropped $1.38 or about 13% last year.

Assuming Infosys's stock trades in the range of $5 to $12  this next year, its recent $9.22 price might rise by $0.78 to reach $10.00 by June 16, 2021.

INFY Dividends

Infosys's most recent declared semi-annual dividend was $0.1266 payable, June 30th. That $0.1266 Q dividend equates to $0.25 annually and yields 2.75% at yesterday's $9.22 share price.

INFY Gains?

Adding the $0.25 annual estimated dividend to my $0.78 optimistic estimate of Infosys Ltd price upside shows a $1.03 potential gross gain, per share, to be reduced by any costs to trade the shares.

If we put little under $1,000.00 today in Infosys Ltd we would buy 108 shares of INFY stock.

A $10 broker fee paid half at purchase and half at sale could cost us about $0.09 per share.

Subtract that $0.09 brokerage cost from my estimated $1.03 gross gain per share results in a net gain of $0.94 X 108 shares = $101.52 for a 10.15% net gain on a $995.76 investment.

Infosys Ltd shows a possible 10.15% net gain including a 2.75% dividend yield. It could be more, it could be less.

The above speculation is based on past performance and supposition. Only time and money invested will tell if Infosys Ltd is worth it.
