Daily Stock Pick: ABM Industries

A portfolio of stocks I've been building since September 3, 2019, named Volio, will eventually hold 52 dividend dogs. Volio is the fifth portfolio I've built (at a one dividend dog per-week pace) since 2014. Five portfolios = V for Volio!

Today I'm reviewing the seond of five industrials sector stocks poised to join my Volio folio this week. One could be my forty-first pick for Volio!

That industrials sector includes twenty-three industries all related to designing, fabricating and servicing stuff we want and use. Those industrials industries range from aerospace and defense to waste management with all the transportation, business services, and equipment required in between.

My subject today is a mid-cap specialty business services outfit named, ABM Industries Inc. Its trading ticker symbol is ABM. This is my second report on ABM Industries Inc for this Volio portfolio. I last discussed ABM on April 9th.

ABM Industries is a provider of integrated facility solutions. It offers its solutions through five segments: business and industry, aviation, technology and manufacturing, education, and technical solutions.

The company derives the majority of its revenue from the business and industry segment, which encompasses janitorial, facilities engineering, and parking services for commercial real estate properties and sports and entertainment venues, as well as vehicle maintenance and other services to rental car providers.

The company mainly operates in the United States.

The company was founded in 1909 and is headquartered in New York, New York.

I use three key data points to gauge dividend equities or funds like ABM Industries Inc:

(1) Price

(2) Dividends

(3) Returns

Those three basic keys best tell whether a company has made, is making, and will make money.

ABM Price

ABM's price per share closed at $36.76 yesterday. A year ago their price was $39.36. Price fell $2.60 or 6.6% last year.

Assuming ABM's stock trades in the range of $18 to $42 this next year, its recent $36.76 price might rise by $3.24 to reach $40.00 by June 9, 2021.

ABM Dividends

ABM's most recent declared quarterly dividend was $0.185 paid May 4th. That $0.185 Q dividend equates to $0.74 annually and yields 2.01% at yesterday's $36.76 share price.

ABM Gains?

Adding the $0.74 annual estimated dividend to my $3.24 optimistic estimate of ABM Industries Inc's price upside shows a $3.98 potential gross gain, per share, to be reduced by any costs to trade the shares.

Say we put little under $1,000.00  today in ABM Industries Inc shares at their $36.76 price, buys 27 shares of ABM stock.

A $10 broker fee paid half at purchase and half at sale could cost about $0.37 per share.

Subtract that $0.37 brokerage cost from my estimated $3.98 gross gain per share results in a net gain of $3.61 X 27 shares = $97.47 for a 9.75% net gain on a $992.52 investment.

ABM Industries Inc shows a possible 97.47% net gain including a 2.01% dividend yield. It could be more, it could be less.

The above speculation is based on past performance and supposition. Only time and money invested will tell if ABM Industries Inc is worth it.
