Daily Stock Analysis: Kimball International - Friday, February 12

Today we look at a small-cap industrial furnishings fixtures and appliances company named Kimball International Inc. Its trading ticker symbol is KBAL.  This is my second report on Kimball International Inc for this portfolio. I reviewed it on September 23rd last year.

Kimball International Inc operates in the furniture manufacturing business. The company consolidated its furniture business and manufactures office and hospitality furniture exclusively.

The company's core market areas include commercial, hospitality, healthcare, education, government, and finance. The firm's furniture brand portfolio comprises Kimball, National, and Kimball Hospitality.

It markets and sells its products through sales representatives, office furniture dealers, wholesalers, brokers, designers, purchasing companies, and catalog houses to end-users.

The company was formerly known as The Jasper Corporation and changed its name to Kimball International, Inc. in July 1974.

Kimball International, Inc. was incorporated in 1939 and is headquartered in Jasper, Indiana.

I use three key data points to gauge dividend equities or funds like Kimball International Inc:

(1) Price

(2) Dividends

(3) Returns

Those three basic keys best tell whether a company has made, is making, and will make money.

KBAL Price

Kimball's price per share closed at $11.49 yesterday. A year ago its price was $17.58. Price per share fell $6.09 or near 35% this past year.

If Kimball's stock trades in the range of $9 to $18 this next year, its recent $11.49 price might rise by $2.51 to reach $14.00 by February 12, 2022. That's in line with the analyst expectation for 2022.

KBAL Dividends

Kimball International Inc most recently declared a quarterly dividend was $0.09 payable April 15th. Dividends are estimated to total $0.36 per share annually and yield 3.13% at yesterday's $11.49 closing price.

KBAL Gains?

Adding the $0.36 annual KBAL anticipated dividend to my $2.51 most optimistic price upside shows a $2.87 potential gross gain, per share, to be reduced by any costs to trade the shares.

Put little under $1,000.00 today in Kimball International Inc at $11.49 per share and we'd buy 87 shares of KBAL stock.

A $10 broker fee (if charged) paid half at purchase and half at sale might cost us about $0.12 per share.

Subtract that maybe $0.12 brokerage cost from my estimated  $2.87 gross gain per share results in a net gain of $2.75 X 87 shares = $239.25 for a  23.93% net gain on a $999.63 investment.

Kimball International Inc shows a possible 23.93% net gain including a 3.13% dividend yield. It could be more, it could be less.

All of the estimates above are speculation based on the past history of Kimball International Inc. Only time and money invested in this stock will determine its worth.
