Daily Stock Analysis: Apogee Enterprises

Today we look at a small-cap building products and equipment company named Apogee Enterprises Inc. Its trading ticker symbol is APOG. This is my second report on Apogee Enterprises Inc for this portfolio. I reviewed it on September 21st last year.

Apogee Enterprises Inc is a manufacturer of architectural glass and metal glass framings. The company also provides building glass installation services.

Its four main business segments are Architectural Framing Systems; Architectural Glass; Architectural Services and Large-Scale Optical Technologies (LSO).

'It generates maximum revenue from the Architectural Framing Systems segment which designs, engineers, fabricates, and finishes the aluminum frames used in customized aluminum and glass window, curtainwall, storefront, and entrance systems comprising the outside skin and entrances of commercial, institutional and high-end multi-family residential buildings.

Geographically, it derives a majority of revenue from the United States.

It markets its architectural products and services through direct sales force, independent sales representatives, and distributors to glazing subcontractors and general contractors; and value-added glass and acrylics through retail chains, picture framing shops, and independent distributors to museums, shops, and galleries.

The company was founded in 1949 and is based in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

I use three key data points to gauge dividend equities or funds like Apogee Enterprises Inc:

(1) Price

(2) Dividends

(3) Returns

Those three basic keys best tell whether a company has made, is making, and will make money.

APOG Price

Apogee's price per share closed at $37.51 yesterday. A year ago its price was $33.08. Price per share rose $4.33 or over 13% this past year.

If Apogee's stock trades in the range of $15 to $40 this next year, its recent $37.35 price might rise by $0.99 to reach $38.50 by February 11, 2022. That's the Y chart calculated valuation from historic multiples. Analysts predict an APOG price drop into 2022.

APOG Dividends

Apogee Enterprises Inc most recently declared quarterly dividend was $0.20 paid on January 29th. Dividends are estimated to total $0.80 per share annually and yield 2.13% at yesterday's $37.51 closing price.

APOG Gains?

Adding the $0.80 annual APOG anticipated dividend to my $0.99 most optimistic price upside shows a $1.79 potential gross gain, per share, to be reduced by any costs to trade the shares.

Put little over $1,000.00 today in Apogee Enterprises Inc at $37.51 per share and we'd buy 27 shares of APOG stock.

A $10 broker fee (if charged) paid half at purchase and half at sale might cost us about $0.37 per share.

Subtract that maybe $0.37 brokerage cost from my estimated  $1.79 gross gain per share results in a net gain of $1.42 X 27 shares = $38.34 for a 3.84% net gain on a $1,012.77 investment.

Apogee Enterprises Inc shows a possible 3.84% net gain including a 2.13% dividend yield. It could be more, it could be less.

All of the estimates above are speculation based on the past history of Apogee Enterprises Inc. Only time and money invested in this stock will determine its worth.
