Cannabis Central: Pure-Play Pot Stock Index Declined Again On Thursday

The munKNEE Pure-Play Pot Stock Index went DOWN 1.3% on Thursday with 14 of the 25 constituents declining, 8 advancing and 3 having No Change in price. In addition, all 3 index categories went DOWN, as well. The winners and losers are as follows:

Index Performance

The Index has companies doing business in a number of different categories and sub-categories based on their primary area of focus in the cannabis industry. These categories are identified below along with those stocks within each category that changed price by 10% or more:

  1. The Vertically Integrated (i.e. Seed-to-Sale) Category went down 1.0%. The category consists of  22 index constituents that grow, process, and sell cannabis and hemp flower and related products.
    1. The Canadian Licensed Producer (LPs) Category went down 3.8%. 3 of the 7 index constituents within the category changed prices by 5% or more, namely: Aurora (ACB) -8.8% (-7.7% on Wednesday and -26.0% on Tuesday); Tilray (TLRY) -8.0%, and Organigram (OGI) -6.5%.
    2. The U.SMulti-State Operator (MSOs) Category went up 0.4but none of the 13 index constituents changed price by 5% or more.
    3. The Hemp Seed-to-Sale MSO sub-category went down 2.0% but only 1 of the 2 index constituents in the category changed price by 5% or more, namely, cbdMD (YCBD) -5.8%.
  2. The Extraction Category went down 2.4%, This category focuses on the extraction of cannabis compounds and their infusion into consumer products, and 1 of the 2 index constituents within the category changed price by 5% or more, namely, Neptune (NEPT) -5.6% (+6.5% on Wednesday, -5.6% on Tuesday).
  3. The Consumption Devices Category went down 14.5%. This category has only one index constituent (Greenlane (GNLN) focused on developing and selling personal consumption devices for cannabis consumers, such as vape pens and inhalers.
