5 Pure-Play Pot Stock Index Constituents Went Up 10%+ This Week

The munKNEE Pure-Play Pot Stock Index was up 1.0% for the week ending December 24th compared to +2.4% the previous week. 13 of the 25 constituents went DOWN, 14 went UP and one had No Change in price. Only 5 stocks changed price by 10% or more. In addition, all 3 of the index categories went UP in price. The details are as follows:

Index Performance

The constituents in the Index operate in 3 categories based on their primary area of focus in the cannabis industry and the constituents within each category are identified below with how each of the categories did along with those stocks within each category that changed price by 10% or more:

  1. The Vertically Integrated (i.e. Seed-to-Sale) Category went up 0.2% vs. +2.4% the previous week. The category consists of  22 index constituents that grow, process, and sell cannabis and hemp flower and related products.
    • The Canadian Licensed Producer (LPs) Sub-Category went down 3.0% but none of the 7 constituents within the category changing price by 10% or more.
    • The U.SNon-Hemp Multi-State Operator (MSOs) Sub-Category went up 1.6% with 4 of the 13 index constituents in the category changing price by 10% or more, as follows:
      1. Columbia (CCHWF) +22.3%
        •  agreed to buy privately held peer, Green Leaf Medical. for an upfront price of roughly $240 million, with potentially more to come if certain unspecified performance-based milestones are reached in 2022 and 2023.
      2. Jushi (JUSHF+20.3%
        • announced that it has exercised its right to accelerate the expiry date of subordinate voting share purchase warrants issued to participants in the Company's previously-announced private placement offerings
      3. Harvest Health (HRVSF) +12.2%
      4. Medicine Man (SHWZ+10.1%
    • The Hemp Seed-to-Sale MSO Sub-Category went down 2.9% with one of the two index constituents in the category changing in price by 10% or more, namely:
      1. cbdMD (YCBD) +19.1%

  2. The Extraction Category went down 0.3%, This category focuses on the extraction of cannabis compounds and their infusion into consumer products, but neither of the index constituents in the category changed price by 10% or more.
  3. The Consumption Devices Category went up 1.0%. This category has only one index constituent, Greenlane (GNLN), which is focused on developing and selling personal consumption devices for cannabis consumers, such as vape pens and inhalers.

  • The 25 pure-play constituents in the Index are just that, pure, deriving 100% of their revenue from the sale of cannabis or cannabis-related products.
    • Unlike every marijuana ETF and every other cannabis tracking index, the Index excludes "wanna-be" companies that currently generate little, if any, of their total revenue from the cannabis industry so as to reflect the true health of the marijuana industry in the U.S. and Canada.
    • The average market capitalization of the 25 constituents in the Index is US$1.5B.
      • 10 constituents have market caps ranging between $1.0B and $10.0B;
      • 4 have market caps between $500M and $999M and
      • 11 constituents have market caps ranging between $100M and $499M
