Alpha Pro Tech, Ltd. (APT) has been consolidating for 6-7 days in a row after a pop and falling wedge, and now it’s holding the trendline and 50-day moving average. On Thursday, it was up 1.36, or 10%, closing at the session high at 14.50, on 4.7 million shares traded. It has to get up through 14.65. If it does that, 18 and 21 are the targets.

California Resources Corporation (CRC), and old favorite of mine, exploded 90 cents, or 56%, to 2.52, slightly off the closing session high of 2.67, on 8.5 million shares traded on Thursday. It’s at resistance, and if it can follow through, 3 3/4 and 5 are the targets.

Penn National Gaming, Inc. (PENN) has had a beautiful bull coil for a week and a half, and on Thursday, it popped another 30 cents, or 2.26%, to 13.58, with a high of 14.05, on 6 million shares traded. Resistance is at the 15.90-16 zone. If it can get through there it could test the gap at 17 3/4 and 20.

Cassava Sciences, Inc. (SAVA) had an earlier swing on it that got hammered by the market, but came back big time, and on Thursday, it popped through resistance, gaining 1.77, or 32%, to 7.31, with a late afternoon high of 7.57, on 5.4 million shares traded. That is the biggest volume in three months. It looks to me like it may be headed higher. Targets going forward are 9 1/4 and 11.

Vapotherm, Inc. (VAPO) exploded out of a wedge on Thursday, jumping 1.92, or 11%, to 19.85, just a nickel of the session high at 20.90, on 1.3 million shares traded. That is really good volume for this stock. The near-term target is 24 going forward.

Valero Energy Corporation (VLO), one of our old swing trades, is in a nice rising channel, and on Thursday, it popped 1.50, or 3%, to 52.07, after reaching a session high of 53.21, on 5.1 million shares traded. If it gets through 54, the next targets are 59-60 and 68-69.
