This week I'm seeking the one and only dividend paying stock from the utilities business sector for my Ivy portfolio. 

The utilities sector has five industries including diversified, independent, regulated electric, regulated gas, and regulated water. 

Today I'm reviewing a Mid-cap regulated electric company, named OGE Energy Corp. Its trading ticker symbol is OGE.

OGE Energy Corp., together with its subsidiaries, operates as an energy and energy services provider. It offers physical delivery and related services for electricity and natural gas in the south central United States.

The company operates in two segments, Electric Utility and Natural Gas Midstream Operations. 

The Electric Utility segment generates, transmits, distributes, and sells electric energy in Oklahoma and western Arkansas. This segment furnishes retail electric service in 267 communities and their contiguous rural and suburban areas; and owns and operates coal-fired, natural gas-fired, wind-powered, and solar-powered generating facilities. 

The Natural Gas Midstream Operations segment is involved in gathering, processing, transporting, and storing natural gas; and the provision of crude oil gathering services, and interstate and intrastate natural gas pipeline transportation and storage services to natural gas producers, industrial end users, and natural gas marketers. 

OGE Energy Corp. was founded in 1995 and is headquartered in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

I use three key data points to gauge the value of any dividend equity or fund like OGE Energy Corp. (OGE):

OGE Energy Corp. price per share was $39.33 at yesterday's market close.A year ago its price was $35.85 for a price increase of $3.48 per share for the year, that's a 9.7% gain. 

Assuming OGE's price will trade in the range of $30 to $45next year, OGE's recent $39.33 price could improve by $4.00 and grow to $43.33 by mid-November, 2019. 

OGE Dividends

OGE's most recent quarterly dividend was $0.365 declared September 26th and paid October 30th. 

That $.365quarterly stipend equates to an annual dividend of $1.46 yielding 3.7% at yesterday's closing $39.33 price.

Gains For OGE?

Adding the $1.46 calculated annual dividend to my estimated $4.00 annual price upside for OGE Energy Corp. (OGE) makes a $5.46 potential gross annual per share gain, which will be reduced by costs to trade the shares.  

 A little under $1,000.00 invested today at the $39.33 recent price buys 25 OGE shares. 

A $10 broker fee paid half at purchase and half at sale costs $0.40 per share, subtracting that $0.40 brokerage cost from the estimated $5.46 gross annual gain leaves a net gain of $5.06 X 25 shares = $126.50 for a 12.5% net gain on a $983.25 investment.

Therefore, OGE Energy Corp., whose trading ticker symbol is OGE, now shows a possible 12.5% net gain including a 3.7% dividend yield.
