How To Use Bitcoin While Travelling The World

Years ago, the creators of Bitcoin planted a seed. They had an idea of a currency that was totally borderless and decentralized. That seed has come to fruition as Bitcoin has been adopted across many borders and industries.

It has proven to be a good way to invest money and now has practical uses as it can be spent like any other currency

Since it is borderless, I wanted to investigate how it could help people when they travel. Long gone are the days of using traveler’s cheques and queuing up at a bank to cash them.

So much time was wasted traveling by having to worry about accessing your money that is a thing of the past.

In this article, we will go over some ways that Bitcoin can help you while traveling.

Send money to yourself

Sometimes you just overspend when traveling. You may have budgeted well enough, but the urge to stay in a nice hotel instead of a hostel takes over. If you find yourself getting short on funds, then cashing out some Bitcoin is easy and fast.

Before you leave, you can buy BTC with debit card and then have it in your digital wallet to use whenever you want. There are a few options to getting that money.

You can cash out to a Paypal account and then use your Paypal to load up your debit card. Or, you can use an exchange site to send your Bitcoin to your bank account.

It usually takes a day or two to get access to the cash to be able to use it so make sure you don’t wait until the last second to cash some out.

Book your travel

Many airlines are starting to accept Bitcoin to buy the tickets. You can use some of the earnings from the gains of your Bitcoin to pay for your flight and it almost costs no money that way.

If you plan to use some of the smaller airlines, then you can still use your Bitcoin to buy the tickets if you go through brokers like Expedia.

If you are in Switzerland, you can book your train tickets using Bitcoin and the same for Italy and Canada when booking long trips.

Use it locally

More and more businesses are starting to accept Bitcoin payments so you don’t need to use the local currency.

You can do your grocery shopping at Spar in the Netherlands or buy a burger in San Francisco.

You can even find Bitcoin ATMs around. Though they are not in abundance, with some planning ahead you can make sure you are nearby one when you feel like you need to get some local fiat.

There are many cities like Ljubljana, Slovenia that make perfect travel destinations as they are heavy into Bitcoin. Ljubljana has 51 merchants that accept Bitcoin and even has five ATMs.

If you plan your travel right, you can find many other places that have the same possibilities to use only Bitcoin and never have to deal with a currency exchange.
