Sensex Today Trades Lower; Nifty Below 22,400; Infosys Drops 3%
Asian shares slumped at the open as White House pushing ahead with sweeping tariffs on trading partners including a 104% levy on China sapped investor appetite for risk.
Stocks tumbled in Australia and Japan, and equity-index futures for the S&P 500 fell more than 1.8%.
US markets spiraled Tuesday after a roller-coaster session that saw early optimism quickly erased by renewed fears over President Donald Trump's escalating trade war. Despite a powerful morning rally, stocks ended in the red.

At present, the BSE Sensex is trading 294 points lower, and the NSE Nifty is trading 137 points lower.
Nestle, HUL, and M&M are among the top gainers today.
Wipro, Tata Steel, and Hindalco, on the other hand, are among the top losers today.
The BSE Midcap index is trading 1.2% lower, and the BSE Smallcap index is trading 1.5% lower.
Barring FMCG sector all other sectoral indices are trading on negative note today with stocks in metal sector, IT sector and realty sector witnessing selling pressure.
The rupee is trading at Rs 86.6 against the US dollar.

Cyient has launched a wholly owned subsidiary, Cyient Semiconductors, reinforcing its commitment to innovation in the global semiconductor space.

Concord Biotech Receives USFDA Approval
Concord Biotech on Tuesday, 8 April, announced that it received marketing approval for its teriflunomide 7 mg and 14 mg tablets from the United States Food and Drug Administration (USFDA).
Teriflunomide tablets are used for the treatment of patients with relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis, the regulatory filing said.
The Teriflunomide tablets have a market size of approximately US$ 402 million in the United States of America and a global market size of about US$ 908 million.
The market size of this tablet presents significant opportunities for expansion in the US and the global market.
Senco Gold Q4 Update
Senco Gold Ltd. shares are in focus on Wednesday, 9 April, after the company reported its business update for the fourth quarter and the entire financial year 2025 on Tuesday, 8 April.
Senco Gold said it witnessed a robust wedding season demand in the March quarter, with a 23% retail growth and 18.4% same store sales growth (SSSG) in comparison to the same quarter last year, despite the rising gold prices. It also recorded its highest-ever fourth-quarter revenue of over Rs 13 bn.
The company said gold prices increased by 11% sequentially and 33% from the previous year. The prices also increased by 19% in the last six months.
For the full financial year, Senco Gold witnessed a revenue growth of 19.1%, while diamond jewellery growth stood at 14.1% year-on-year.
Senco Gold said the growth in tier-3 and tier-4 towns outpaced growth in metros and tier-2 cities. Its coin / bullion sales continue to be a small fraction of the total gold sold, at less than 4%.
In the fourth quarter, Senco Gold launched four new showrooms under the franchisee and COCO model in West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh. For the full year, the company launched 15 showrooms, including six franchisees. Its entire showroom portfolio stood at 175, including 72 franchisee showrooms and one showroom in Dubai.
Adani Wilmar to be Renamed
Adani Wilmar, the FMCG arm of the Adani Group, is set to be renamed AWL Agri Business Limited effective 16 April.
The rebranding reflects the company's evolving focus on the agriculture and food sector, aligning its identity more closely with its core business and future growth plans in agri-business.
This move comes after the Adani Group announced in December 2024 its decision to exit the consumer goods joint venture with Wilmar International in a US$ 2 billion deal.
